Happy Friday, San Antonio Spurs fans! Fridays are normally don't bring a ton of news as most people are looking to bolt the office for the weekend. But not your San Antonio Spurs. Oh no. Let's dive in.
-Stephen Jackson already looking for a contract extension? Oh come on, you knew it was coming. The San Antonio Express News' Mike Monroe reports Jackson says he's happy with his role in San Antonio, but he's also hoping for a contract extension. This isn't exactly surprising news, though the first week of camp does seem a bit early to hear about it. Still, he was asked about it, so what's he going to say?
-Is Manu Ginobili's extension coming? Remember when some idiot opined about the end of the Manu Ginobili era before Training Camp even started? Oh wait, that was me? Well, according to Julian Mozo, Manu may be in line for an extension very soon. No word on how close it is or for how much, but I'm guessing another two years, which is also when Tim Duncan's contract is set to expire.
-In case you missed it, Air Alamo has the latest on Cory Joseph switching agencies, but not agents.
That's it for now, Spurs fans. Two pretty big stories coming out to close out the week. Don't forget, the Spurs first preseason game is Saturday night, when the Silver and Black host Montepaschi Siena at the AT&T Center at 7:30 p.m. Check out Project Spurs afterwards for a full recap on the opener.
BEST OF MAXIM
Stephen Jackson said so far there has been no offer from the Spurs.
The biggest need heading into the new season is size on the San Antonio Spurs. Currently, the team only has Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter but after that, it's a considerable drop off. The team is undersized and can use some help in the paint.
And as training camp is well underway, Manu Ginobili says having Josh Powell and Eddy Curry on the roster is a huge help.
Manu Ginobili and Gary Neal scored 11 points apiece and the San Antonio Spurs beat Italy's Montepaschi Siena 106-77 in their preseason opener Saturday night.
Tim Duncan and Tony Parker added nine points each. They started along with Boris Diaw, Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, the same starting lineup the Spurs used down the stretch last season.
Bobby Brown scored 20 points for...
San Antonio : NBA Draft Grade C+
(59) Marcus Denmon, SG
Doesn’t it seem like the Spurs always turn their low picks into quality NBA players. Denmon has potential to be the next great Spurs success story. Had Denmon been a little taller he would have been a 1st round pick. Denmon is best known for his shooting ability. To be shocked for the next to the last pick...

But for guard Gary Neal, it is also a reunion against a team he once faced while playing in Italy and is currently 0-6 against (via Menssana Basket) .

The San Antonio Spurs roster now stands at 19 after they waived guard Sherron Collins today.
Collins was a late addition to the training camp roster, signing with the Spurs on Monday.
While he likely didn't have much time to make much of a dent or show off his skills too much outside of an open scrimmage, Collins was likely on the outside looking in from the beginning...
After the San Antonio Spurs defeated Montepaschi Siena on Saturday 106-77, there was one common theme amongst the players in the locker room. Defense.
Manu Ginobili summed up the theme, “We played pretty well, especially defensively.” “We tried different types of defenses and the guys followed.” Continued Ginobili.
Defense was the key for the Spurs on Saturday...
Well this is going to be interesting. The NBA announced some harsh rules in an attempt to curtail flopping during games And for players like San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili, Anderson Varejao, and other players with flopping reputations, this new rule might hit them the hardest.
However, for Spurs' Danny Green, he feels it is a good rule and says the squad doesn'...
Contributed by guest blogger Frank PalmasaniThey’re old. They’re out of shape. Their best player is old, the second best is now visually impaired, and the third is balding. You’ve heard it all before. It’s no secret. The San Antonio Spurs are an older team. Tim Duncan can still bask in the old days when they traded buzzer beaters and game winners with the “Kobe-Shaq era”...
