Vince Carter scored 23 points, O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison each added 15 to help the Dallas Mavericks break their six-game losing streak with a 103-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
When the Wizards, who are now 4-25, took a 14-point lead early in the second quarter, Dallas, which had arrived in Washington in the midst of its longest skid in nearly 14 years, rallied. They trailed by four at the half, and then outscored the Wizards 35-19 in the third quarter to take an 83-71 lead.
The Mavericks were ahead 99-84 with 3:28 to play, but Washington scored eight straight to cut the lead to seven, but Carter, making just the second start of the season threw down an emphatic dunk with 1:11 to play to make it 101-93.

Dallas arrived in Washington in the midst of its longest skid in nearly 14 years. The Mavericks hadn't been losing close games. Just one of the six losses was by fewer than 10 points, and were by an average of 19 points, and were by an average of 19 points.
NBA champs just two seasons ago, Dallas hasn't missed the playoffs since 2000 and looked to be a team in turmoil. Coach Rick Carlisle was so upset after Sunday's 25-point loss to San Antonio, he threatened suspensions to underperformers, a threat he dismissed before the game. He did institute a dress code for team charters, banning sweat suits and insisting on at least business-casual attire.
The Wizards outrebounded the Mavericks 20-8 in the first quarter as they took a 29-23 lead and ended a 10-0 run with a 37-23 advantage with just over two minutes gone in the second quarter. Dallas clawed back in the game by scoring seven straight to end the first half down 52-48.
Just before Washington left the court, coach Randy Wittman took reserve center Kevin Seraphin aside to hector him for allowing Kaman three easy baskets late in the half.
NOTES: Dallas recalled G Jared Cunningham from the D-League, but he was inactive as was C/F Brandan Wright with a quad strain. ... The Wizards gave out bobbleheads depicting Beal. ... Washington has lost six in a row to the Mavericks. ... While the Mavericks were introduced, the strains of ''Hail to the Redskins'' were played.

Finally, the Dallas Mavericks put together a mark in the win column by beating the Washington Wizards 103-94. This was a must for the Mavs, after all this is the worst start of a season since 1999 and they needed this spark to take them to Miami to face the Heat in another back to back scenario.
I had mentioned in my last post asking if the Mavs were going to let the Spurs run...
The Dallas Mavericks are currently 12-19 and in the midst of a six game losing streak. Furthermore, they have dropped nine out of their last 10 games. That isn't sitting well with head coach Rick Carlisle. So, in an effort to help turn things around he has threatened to suspend players if the "unprecedented" stretch of losing continues.“It’s not what this organization...
On the first day of 2013, it looks like that Dallas Mavericks forward Vince Carter might gotten in time machine and channeled some of his past Vinsanity.Check out this high-flying two handed jam that he throws down on Washington Wizards forward Martell Webster:
Vince Carter one of the best all time dunkers in NBA history prove he still has something left in the tank with his highlight dunk the other night. The Mavericks got destroyed by the Spurs but the play of the night went to Carter, who dunked on Kawhi Leonard.
I think Carter should do 1 more NBA dunk contest before he retires.

Dirk Nowitzki went 5-for-7 from the floor to score a season-high 11 points in 17 minutes.
WASHINGTON -- Forget playing at their previous championship winning level: The scuffling Dallas Mavericks entered the New Year simply in need of a victory. Thanks to a dunking Vince Carter, a shot-making Dirk Nowitzki -- and playing the owners of the NBA's worst record -- the wish came true. Carter scored 23 points and Nowitzki's offense keyed a 22-6 third quarter run as...
As if battering the Dallas Mavericks for a 25-point blowout win wasn't enough, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker rubbed salt in Dallas' wounds by finishing after being fouled deep into the Mavericks' defense.
With just under four minutes remaining and the game put away for the night, Parker was fouled by Chris Kaman but hung on to bounce in the shot on his way down...
The Dallas Mavericks are only 2 seasons removed as the NBA champs. They were pretty much the “Cinderella team” of the 2011 season after coming in kind of under the radar to take on the giants of the league and eventually beat the bad team from the east, the Miami Heat and get their vengeance from 2006. Then something happened, the season ended, the current bargaining contract...
The Dallas Mavericks already got their marquee player back from injury, while the Washington Wizards continue to anxiously await the return of theirs. But both teams continue to struggle heading into Tuesday night's game at Washington.
The Mavericks (12-19) had lost two straight when Dirk Nowitzki made his season debut Dec. 23 against San Antonio, but Dallas has lost all four...
