The Dallas Mavericks have added another body to their ever growing frontcourt.
The Mavericks have won the bidding for Elton Brand, the team announced on Friday.
Brand was amnestied by the Philadelphia 76ers this week. Teams had 48-hours to submit bids to secure the rights to the final year on Brand's contract.
Earlier this week, Dallas signed centers Chris Kaman and Brazilian star Rafael Hettsheimeir after exercising their option on Brandon Wright at the start of free agency. Dallas amnestied center Brenden Haywood on Thursday and traded backup center Ian Mahinmi to the Indiana Pacers.
Last season, Brand averaged 11.0 points and 7.2 rebounds for Philadelphia in 60 games in helping lead the 76ers to the second round of the NBA Playoffs.
Brand was drafted No. 1 overall in the 1999 NBA Draft by Chicago, earning NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 2000. Brand then joined the Clippers (2001-08) before the 76ers (2008-12).

Chris Kaman tweets image of 'big news'
Chris Kaman may need a primer on what constitutes "big news." Moments before announcing that he had signed a one-year deal with the Mavericks, the 7-footer out of Central Michigan tweeted a photo of a dead rodent he found in his gym Wednesday morning as "part of the big news." "I think it's a muskrat?!" Kaman wrote. We'll take your word for it...
Kwame Brown signs with Sixers as reserve

Another scratch your head move by the Sixers this off-season. Brown is another 20 minute...
Xavier Silas Hit in Head in Summer League Game, Suffers Concussion (Video)
Xavier Silas enjoyed a strong Orlando Summer League, possibly earning himself a spot in the Philadelphia 76ers' training camp this fall. The Dallas Mavericks may have lost out on the point guard sweepstakes in Deron Williams and Steve Nash, but they are still making moves. A nice move, if it works out for them, is the fact the club is looking to make an amnesty bid on Luis Scola via ESPN. They are also in the mix for [...]
2012 NBA Free Agency Rumors: Mavericks to Go After Luis Scola If They Can’t Get Elton Brand
According to Tim McMahon of ESPN Dallas, the Dallas Mavericks look to make a run at former Houston Rockets power forward Luis Scola if they’re unable to land former Philadelphia 76ers’ big man Elton Brand.
Both players were waived through the amnesty clause by their teams recently. With the Mavs having a lot of cap space, they are one of the first teams to have bids on amnestied...
Mavericks land Chris Kaman and Darren Collison, not bad recovery
Free agency wasn't going initially well for Dallas. Deron Williams didn't work out, nor did Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, or any other Point Guard they tried to acquire. They didn't appear to have enough ammo for a real shot at Dwight Howard, and then Jason Kidd left along with Jason Terry. But I do have to say the Mavs recovered nicely yesterday. Vey nicely I think.
First...
