Donnie Nelson: Mavs got a top free agent in Kaman

This summer hasn't gone exactly to plan for the Dallas Mavericks.  After letting Tyson Chandler leave for New York instead of overpaying him and making another run for an NBA title, but instead opted for long term salary cap flexibility with this summer in mind to make a run at Deron Williams or Dwight Howard or both.  Turns out neither happened, so the Mavs moved to plan B...

Mavericks’ O.J. Mayo Must Take on Role of Jason Terry

O.J. Mayo signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks last Monday. The deal includes an option for the second year. Still no offers for Alonzo Gee, Cavs linked to C.J. Miles, and Delonte re-signs w/ Dallas

A scout from the Western Conference told me that he believed there were twenty players in the D-League better than Alonzo Gee. That sounded real harsh to me when he said it. I'm almost not sure that's even fair to say, and I immediately thought this guy might still be bitter over a missed opportunity to recommend Alonzo to his GM or something a couple years back. Instead...
