Dallas Mavericks backup center Brendan Haywood was inactive for Game 5 of the NBA finals because of a hip injury that's bothered him much of the series. Haywood was injured late in Game 2 against the Miami Heat. He missed Game 3, then tried to play in Game 4, lasting only 3 minutes. With two days off before Game 6 in Miami, there's still a chance Haywood could return. Without him, Ian Mahinmi becomes the primary backup to starter Tyson Chandler. Guard Rodrigue Beaubois replaced Haywood on the active list, as he did for Game 3. Beaubois hasn't played this postseason. Coach Rick Carlisle told reporters long-injured Caron Butler was taking Haywood's place, then laughed and said, ''I'm just kidding.''
