DALLAS Many had thought it but it was confirmed after Saturday's season-ending loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder the players in the Dallas Mavericks locker room were not happy about team owner Mark Cuban's decision to let Tyson Chandler, J.J. Barea and DeSahwn Stevenson walk in free agency. The faces of the team -- Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry and Jason Kidd -- all gave their thoughts on the matter following a 103-97 loss in Game 4 of their first-round series. "As players, I think we were for sure disappointed in December in free agency when we didn't get the same team back, that's for sure," Nowitzki said. Terry's take: "Every year I've been on the Mavericks, we've had a realistic chance, it's because of the personnel. Look at your personnel and what they surround you with, your core nucleus, and then you can see if you have a realistic shot. "For us, it was a long shot. Nobody's going to downplay that. If you look at our roster to a man it was a long shot this year. But we still made the playoffs. But we just didn't have enough." So, would the Mavericks have had a realistic shot at repeating if the 2011 championship nucleus remained intact? "Why not," Terry questioned. "That's the team that won it. We'd be just as good as anybody." Kidd agreed with his teammates but suggested that a repeat would not have been anywhere near a guarantee. "It would've been nice. But there's nothing written in concrete that says we would've won again," Kidd said. "In basketball, things change. Those guys that were here all signed nice contracts somewhere else and have helped their teams try to win. That happens in the business of basketball." Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
