The Dallas Mavericks are getting some relief after that dreaded and ugly stretch of nine games in 12 days. The defending NBA champions, the league's oldest lineup with all its starters and two top reserves being at least 10-year veterans, have a chance to regroup. They are in a nearly two-week span without having to play on consecutive nights. Owner Mark Cuban says the Mavericks now have a chance to prove themselves. In this unusual condensed season, he can dismiss the 2-7 stretch that ended with three road losses in three nights over the weekend. Dallas was the first Western Conference team to play its 44th game, a desperately needed victory at home over Washington on Tuesday night. That leaves 22 regular-season games over six weeks.

Mavs GM: 'I didn't feel pressure to make trade'

Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson didn't make any moves prior to Thursday's trade deadline because he says the club is in good shape to make a postseason run and positioned well to be a serious player in free agency this summer. "We like our team," Nelson said Thursday. "We like the flexibility we have this summer. We need to get some healthy bodies...

Haywood back in Mavericks lineup

Mavericks center Brendan Haywood is back in the starting lineup against Washington. He had missed four games since spraining his left ankle in the opening minute of the Mavericks' game March 5 at Oklahoma City. Haywood wasn't the only big man the Mavericks got back Tuesday. Center Brandan Wright was active after missing six games with concussion-like symptoms. The Mavericks...

POTD 3/13/12: Nick Young on Ian Mahinmi

Chandler Parsons or Nick Young?  In all honesty I think it’s a tossup.  Chandler’s dunk has the Ibaka factor working in it’s favor, but Young’s slam was finished directly on top of Mahinmi’s dome.  I’ve been going back and forth on this all day, but it’s come time that I make up my damn mind.  I’m rolling with Bean Burrito.  That’s Nick Young. Sorry, Rockets...

FINALLY! The Dallas Mavericks Get A Win – The Washington Wizards 107-98

As in the words of The Rock, “finally the Mavericks have come back to Dallas!”, and they won. Dallas faced one of the lowest winning teams in the NBA tonight and came out with a victory, barely. Why do I say barely? Well, there was a point in time during the game, that Dallas actually let the Wizards have the lead and gave them the hope of a win that I’m sure was not in the...

Mavs Continue To Search For Answers

There’s no way around it. The last ten games, which have seen the Mavs go 2-8, have been absolutely abysmal. The Mavs’ execution, effort, and basic desire to play quality basketball weren’t at the level needed in order to compete for a championship. Whether it was due to injuries or contract uncertainty beyond this year, the Mavericks have simply lost too many games against...

Dallas Keeps Streak Alive vs Bobcats 96-101

Either my eyes are playing tricks on me, or there is a Cardboard Marion under Haywood's elbow...Well, the trade deadline passed today and DJ Augustin, despite rampant rumors, did not get traded. For many (like myself) this was good news. For a lot of others, it was the first of two bummers expected today. The second? Well, the Bobcats had to take the court in their “Death Valley”...

Chances 'more real than ever' for D-Will

Dwight Howard will be staying in Orlando for another season and in some ways, that's good news for the Mavericks. Yes, Mark Cuban and company were reportedly interested in signing Howard if he opted out of his current deal this summer. Cuban had cleared cap room to possibly make a run at Howard and New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams, giving the Mavs two superstars to...
