If the defending NBA champions Dallas Mavericks are looking to repeat, this is probably something that is a bit of a concern -- Jason Kidd will be out of action for the next few games.

According to Dallas News, Kidd will be nursing a right groin strain and will sit out the rest of this week.

"It's been something that's been an issue, but we have to get it resolved,'' Carlisle said. "It was an issue Friday and it clearly was bothering him throughout the whole game. He's likely out through the Memphis game. I don't see him playing this week.''

Without their floor general, the Mavs will have to rely on scoring guard Roddy Beaubois, and Delonte West to guide Dallas in this playoff stretch run.

He sat out last night's game versus the Clippers but the main focus for Dallas has to be to get some rhythm heading into the playoffs.

Currently, the Mavs are sitting at the sixth overall playoff spot in the Western Conference with Denver hot on their heels. And it is crucial that the Mavs stay at least in the sixth spot. This would mean a matchup with the Lakers in the first round and allow them to avoid the top two teams -- San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

Add the fact Dallas' season has been turbulent to say the least, the Mavs can sure use something positive heading into the playoffs. A string of wins, a fully healthy squad, Lamar Odom actually playing well for a change, something!

Instead, the team loses Kidd at the worse time possible -- the regular season ending and the real season about to begin.

However, the bright side is that Roddy and Delonte will get more time on the floor this week (which should help the team come playoffs) and allow Kidd to come back fully healthy at the right time.
