Down 2 games to 0, the Los Angeles Lakers may be holding on for dear life in the team’s first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs heading into Friday’s Game 3 match-up at Staples Center, but that doesn’t mean Metta World Peace isn’t doing everything in his power to make sure that he is ready to take the court and compete. On Friday, MWP tweeted photos providing compelling, albeit nasty, evidence that he had undergone a procedure where a disgusting-looking fluid is drained from his knee to deal with something called a Baker’s Cyst. And if it hasn’t been made clear — unlike the fluid drained from his knee — the photos are kinda nasty and not for the squeamish. Baker’s Cyst is defined by the Mayo Clinic as follows: A Baker’s cyst is a fluid-filled cyst that causes a bulge and a feeling of tightness behind your knee. The pain can get worse when you fully flex or extend your knee or when you’re active. A Baker’s cyst, also called a popliteal (pop-LIT-e-ul) cyst, is usually the result of a problem with your knee joint, such as arthritis or a cartilage tear. Both conditions can cause your knee to produce too much fluid, which can lead to a Baker’s cyst. Although a Baker’s cyst may cause swelling and make you uncomfortable, treating the probable underlying problem usually provides relief. That doesn’t sound pleasant. On to the nasty photos: My knee is in really good shape . The last two games this Bakers Cyst was tough to play with. Just drained it. Whoa! twitter.com/MettaWorldPeac… — Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) April 26, 2013   My knee is in really good shape . The last two games this Bakers Cyst was tough to play with. Just drained it. Whoa! twitter.com/MettaWorldPeac… — Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) April 26, 2013   Good grief. I don’t know whether to thank Metta World Peace for documenting how a nasty-colored fluid was drained from his knee or to send him the bill for the lunch I just threw away. There’s no way I’m eating this chicken noodle soup now. Uh, gross? The post Metta World Peace tweets nasty pics of fluid drained from his knee (photos) appeared first on Sportress of Blogitude.
