Dwight Howard did the unthinkable nearly a month ago. He left the city of angels to pair up with rising superstar James Harden. Los Angeles is normally the place where stars go to cement their legacy. Well, Howard went against the grain. It just never seemed to work in L.A. for the 7-time All-Star. Dwight was frustrated for the duration of the season. He didn’t receive the amount of touches he was accustom to in Orlando, but he should have saw that coming when playing with Kobe Bryant. There’s a lot of factors that went into Howard’s decision, but there’s probably none bigger than the D’Antoni factor. Howard and D’Antoni never really saw eye to eye. It was just a bad mixture overall. Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni is still baffled by Howard’s decision. He spoke with ESPN Los Angeles about the departure of Howard: “It’s hard for me to sit here and criticize or even to understand why he left a place like L.A. That’s kind of mind-boggling a little bit, but that’s in his DNA and what he wants to do.” D’Antoni would go on about the short-term and the fact that he still has Pau Gasol. “Everybody has got to make that decision,” D’Antoni said. “You can debate it all you want. Only Dwight knows. Obviously he didn’t think he would be as happy here as he will be in Houston. That might be the case and he had to make that decision. There will be a lot of speculation, we tried it, it didn’t work out and we go forward. So be it. You hate it. Dwight’s one of the better centers in the league and it would have been a long-term thing, but I looked at it like, ‘OK, you don’t have Dwight but you got Pau [Gasol].’ So, we’ll see. In the short run, we’ll see what happens. In the long run, obviously 10 years from now Dwight might still be playing and maybe Pau is retired, but everybody has got to do [what's best for them].” The feelings of the fans in L.A. were hurt when Dwight Howard left and now D’Antoni has finally let his emotions out.

Houston Rockets: Best and Worst Moves of the Off Season

Houston Rockets: Best and Worst Moves of the Off Season By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff…. Best Move: Dwight Howard - The Rockets signed the best center in the NBA, who is a superstar and a true offensive and defensive force. Nash: Lakers will fly under radar

With Dwight Howard's decision nearly a month in the past and their roster beginning to fill out, the Lakers have fallen a bit out of the spotlight in recent weeks. The attention will be back, for certain; future points of debate range from Kobe Bryant's health to the team's first matchup with the Rockets to its coaching situation. If the Lakers play well, it will be...

Kupchak: Lakers Did Everything 'Within Reason' To Re-Sign Howard

Mitch Kupchak conducted his first interview since Dwight Howard decided to leave the Los Angeles Lakers to sign with the Houston Rockets. "It wasn't a surprise. I had a feeling that Houston was a frontrunner, and whenever a player is an unrestricted free agent, anything can happen," Kupchak said. "Clearly, we wanted to keep him here in Los Angeles, and I felt we...

Gasol eager to reclaim the post left by Howard

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- With Dwight Howard gone and Kobe Bryant injured, Pau Gasol is looking to reassert himself as a leader of the Los Angeles Lakers. Knees allowing, he wants to be the dominant player of old who helped Bryant & Co. win NBA titles in 2009 and 2010. Dez Bryant Says It’s Redskins Dezmon Briscoe Who Likes To Get Peed On

I find this all a bit humorous. Just to review a groupie went on Twitter and said Dez Bryant likes straps on and to be peed on. Dez responded by saying that he was going to sue the groupie for her false claims. The groupie deleted her Twitter account and now Dez has added a twist to the story.  He has released these text messages via his twitter account that he received from the...

Warriors Look to Continue Winning Ways

This NBA off-season has been wildly entertaining. Dwight Howard finally (3 years later) made a decision that actually makes sense for his career, Josh Smith signed with Detroit, the Nets added Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce while the Boston Celtics imploded their roster, and most recently the Pistons performed a sign-and-trade to bring Brandon Jennings into the fold.  However...

Report: Chris Paul Threatened to Leave L.A. for Houston if Clippers Didn’t Land Doc Rivers

Dwight Howard bolted the Los Angeles Lakers for the Houston Rockets, and the perception continues to be that Howard left because he didn’t like head coach Mike D’Antoni‘s system. Well, apparently Howard wasn’t the only L.A. basketball player to desire to leave if he didn’t get his coach — only this one got his way. Chris Paul threatened the Clippers that he would leave...

The Lakers ARE NOT tanking

Putting the words "Los Angeles Lakers" and "tanking" in the same sentence is an odd thing. The Lakers are not a team that finds themselves competing for ping pong balls or near the bottom of the standings. With Dwight Howard leaving in free agency and Kobe Bryant down for who knows how long with his ruptured Achilles, some people dared to use the "t"...
