Greg Dickerson, CSNNE's sideline reporter has joined in the fun. He posted this tweet this morning. Celtics tried to make a deal for millsap and or big Al at the trade deadline. Couldn't make things work w jazz though — greg dickerson (@gdickerson_csn) May 31, 2013 It was no secret that Danny was very active at the trade deadline last season. It's not surprising that he targeted both Paul Milsap and Big Al Jefferson at the deadline, considering the Celtics need for a big man and rebounding all last season. Big Al pulled down 9.2 rebounds per game last season and Millsap was good for 7.1 rebounds per game. Both would fill that need. CSNNE has more from Jackie MacMullan's interview on Sports Tonight: "Who holds all the cards? Kevin Garnett," MacMullan said. "Kevin Garnett may or may not need surgery, we haven't heard either way. That might determine whether he wants to come back for another year. I'm hearing that he wants to come back for one year. That's what I'm hearing right now. So if he comes back for one more year- he holds all the cards, he has a no-trade clause, he can kind of call the shots here. If he comes back, maybe he says 'Well, I'm not coming back unless Pierce comes back. "Maybe you make a trade for Pierce at the deadline. You have deadlines with Pierce. Pierce holds none of the cards. So it all depends on KG. So that's why nothing's happened yet. Because I don't think KG's fully decided, A) if he needs surgery, B) if he was going to do the surgery, C) if he wants to come back. I think if he wants to come back he'll probably play for Boston. So that's why you haven't heard anything, because we're all waiting for KG." So, she is hearing that KG WANTS to come back. Steve Bulpett reported in the middle of May that KG would not need surgery. With Jackie reporting now that we don't know if he needs surgery, we have to wonder if that was that just speculation or if it was a case of he doesn't need it now, but we'll revisit it later. I've been thinking all along that the decision with Paul Pierce was the first domino that would fall and that KG would decide his future based on that decision, but I'm starting to think it's the other way around. What if Danny is waiting on KG's decision. If KG wants to come back and he's healthy enough to come back and play at a high level again, and Danny brings Pierce back at KG's request, that makes my scenario about Rondo being used as trade bait for Big Al or Paul Millsap a little more believable. IF KG and Pierce return, and IF the Celtics have made a promise to a Rondo clone at #16, it's possible that Rondo could be the trade bait to make that second run at a sign and trade for Big Al or Paul Millsap. The Jazz need a point guard and the Celtics need a rebounder. Just a thought. I can't wait for something to really happen. This speculation and all these rumors are getting old and frustrating. But, we had better get used to them because I don't expect them to slow down any time soon. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Ainge: no decision made on Paul Pierce's future

Rumors have been flying and swirling around regarding Boston's intentions with long-time forward Paul Pierce. Many believe Boston will buy out the remaining year at $15.3 million because Pierce's contract is only guaranteed for $4 million for next season. If that were to happen, it would be an unfortunate way for Pierce's 15-year run in Boston to end -- especially after...

The Boston Celtics best option for next season may be year 7 of a 3 year plan

There are a million questions regarding the state of the Boston Celtics right now.  Doc Rivers is likely going to be the coach next year, but we’re not 100% sure.  Kevin Garnett might retire, and he says he doesn’t want to play there without Paul Pierce.  Pierce’s skills are no longer worth the $15+ million he’s due to be paid next season, but I don’t see the alternatives...

What the Hell Happened to...Rodney Rogers?

Sometimes I think back to that celebration on June 17, 2008.  The little green and gold and black confetti falling on the Garden floor.  I see an elated Kevin Garnett bellowing "Anything Is Possible."  I see an almost-childlike Ray Allen gleefully skipping across the parquet.  I see Glen Davis and Leon Powe and Paul Pierce huddled up yelling "Hoo-rah, Celtics,...

We are getting tidbits of information, or non-information as the case may be, but even the information we have so far is not certain...
