Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Denies Momentum with Denver After 2 Straight Defeats
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves in trouble after squandering a two-game series lead to the Denver Nuggets in their backyard. With the series now headed back to Denver, it’s fair to say that the onus is on the Timberwolves to turn things around and reclaim control of the series to finish the second round in six games.

Players on the Wolves roster appear to be taking the loss differently. Karl-Anthony Towns understands that his poor shooting over the last two games shouldn’t be repeated when they return to Mile High City.

Rudy Gobert took the more controversial route, playing heel to the referees as he alluded to game-fixing.

Meanwhile, the team’s franchise player was asked where the series was headed after two disastrous games at the Target Center. He gave a surprising answer that shows how confident he is with his team’s chances.

Anthony Edwards rejects the idea that the Minnesota Timberwolves lost the series’ momentum

Ant-Man was asked after the game whether he thinks the momentum is already on the side of their opponents. After losing two games on their own home court, it would be natural to think that they have a slight edge as they head back home to Denver.

However, Edwards gave an answer that doesn’t betray the confidence he’s been carrying all season long, as reported by Fadeaway World’s Vishwesha Kumar:

“I think the three days hurt us actually. Yeah, I think having those, after those two wins, they gave us like three days off or three days before we play again. And I don’t really like that at all.”

“I think that’s why we came out sluggish game three. But I don’t think they got any momentum. I mean, we won two games. They won two games. At this point, it’s just whoever win two games.”

“So I don’t know how people look at it, but I look at it like I’m happy. We’re competing at the highest level and I’m smiling about it cuz I’m happy. I’m ready to go play. If we play tomorrow, I’ll be ready. So it’s gonna be fun.”

Edwards has all the right in the world to feel that the series is not out of their reach. He finished the game leading all players in points at 44 while shooting an efficient 16-of-25 on the floor. He added to his impressive tally with five boards, five dimes, two steals, and a block.

There’s little to no question that Anthony Edwards will push the Timberwolves to win Game 5 on hostile territory. It’s up to the rest of the team to keep up with their superstar guard.
