Many had high hopes for the Minnesota Timberwolves after taking an incredible 2-0 lead against the Denver Nuggets. While the defending champions promised that their team would perform better, many home fans expected the Timberwolves to keep their momentum going and create a tough situation for the Nuggets.
However, the pressure may have gotten the better of them as they failed to capitalize on their home-court advantage against the Nuggets. Their opponents’ stars were effective as they lost by 27 points in Game 3.
It would be easy to point fingers on where the Wolves fell short in this game, but Anthony Edwards took responsibility for the loss.

Edwards fielded questions from the media after Minnesota’s 117-90 loss. One can tell from the star guard’s body language that he wasn’t happy with his performance.
He talked about his team’s inability to keep up with their opponents, and he full on took the blame for his team’s shortcomings:
“I came out flat. I can’t afford to do that.”

It’s not like Edwards had a completely off night for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He finished the game with a team-high 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists on 8-for-15 shooting. If it was the regular season, fans would only be slightly disappointed with his performance.
However, every game at this point of the season matters. Ant-Man understands more than anyone that he’s the franchise player, and superstars are expected to show off even when the odds are completely against them.
It also didn’t help that the rest of the roster didn’t show up the way they did in Game 2. Karl-Anthony Towns only had 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Meanwhile, Rudy Gobert only finished with six points, four rebounds, and one assist. The 2024 DPOY didn’t even manage to notch a single block in the 27 minutes he was on the floor.
Every player on the roster, not just Edwards, need to step up if they’re going to retake the series’ momentum.
