With the Minnesota Timberwolves’ star player, forward Kevin Love injured the majority for the season, 2011′s  number two overall pick, Derrick Williams has stepped up in a big way, proving why he was such a highly sought after prospect. In fact, this month, he is averaging 17.3 points and 6.8 rebounds in 10 games and has been their leading scorer. The problem is that next year, once Kevin Love comes back and assuming they resign center Nikola Pekovic, he will go back to receiving around 20 minutes per game instead of the 33 minutes he is currently receiving. He has shown that his natural position is at power forward and that he is starter in the NBA, but with Andre Kirilenko, Love and Pekovic all set to play over 30 minutes per game, it will be hard to find enough minutes for Williams. They would be wise to trade him after the season, while his value is at its highest and try to fill their much needed vacancy at the two.
