Monta Ellis may be staying in Milwaukee after all.credit: jocksandstilettojill.com For most of this season, many around the league have been under the assumption that Monta Ellis will opt-out of his $11 million option with the Milwaukee Bucks for next season. The consensus was that Ellis believes he is worth more than that, and would like to test his value on the open market. The team currently has a logjam in the backcout, with Ellis, Brandon Jennings, and the recently acquired J.J. Redick. Now, it looks as if there is a decent chance that Monta Ellis will take the $11 million option, keeping him in Milwaukee for next season. Via Marc Stein: The Bucks have a number of financial decisions to make with Brandon Jennings headed for restricted free agency, newly acquired J.J. Redick soon to be an unrestricted free agent and Monta Ellis expected by many teams to give strong consideration to opting in for next season at $11 million despite the longstanding presumption in Brewtown that he’s determined to opt out. So there are a lot of variables in play at season’s end, since paying all three — as well as they’ve been playing together — would figure to be a serious stretch for the small-market Bucks. It’s still unclear what the team thought they were doing in acquiring Redick, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. The situation with Brandon Jennings is still unresolved, as it is to be seen if the Bucks think he is worth the money that he will probably demand. The market for Ellis is unclear; many believe he is simply a low-efficiency chucker, yet there will still probably be one team who decides to overpay him. -Mark Evans, Assistant Manager/Editor of Content Follow us on Twitter The post Monta Ellis May Opt-In With Bucks appeared first on Pass The Pill.
