Dennis Rodman racked up many awards on the court during his Hall of Fame playing career in the NBA, most notably claiming Defensive Player of the Year twice and being a five-time champion. Off the court, he hasn’t been as successful, but he’s hoping his recent peacemaking efforts won’t go unnoticed by the Nobel Committee. Rodman recently traveled with the Harlem Globetrotters to North Korea and eventually met with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, and the former Pistons and Bulls star thinks he should get some rather lofty recognition for trying to mend the relationship between the United States and North Korea. “My mission is to break the ice between hostile countries,” Rodman told Sports Illustrated. “Why it’s been left to me to smooth things over, I don’t know. Dennis Rodman, of all people. Keeping us safe is really not my job; it’s the black guy’s [President Barack Obama's] job. But I’ll tell you this: If I don’t finish in the top three for the next Nobel Peace Prize, something’s seriously wrong.” Rodman claims that Jong Un, whom he considers his “friend for life,” just wants to talk basketball with Obama, and he doesn’t consider the North Korean leader a threat to the U.S. “People say he’s the worst guy in the world. All I know is Kim told me he doesn’t want to go to war with America,” Rodman said. “His whole deal is to talk basketball with Obama. Unfortunately, Obama doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. I ask, Mr. President, what’s the harm in a simple phone call? This is a new age, man. Come on, Obama, reach out to Kim and be his friend.” Obama reaching out to Jong Un and Rodman winning a Nobel Peace Prize might seem unlikely, but that’s not stopping Rodman from at least trying. The 52-year-old told SI that he plans to visit North Korea again in August to meet with Jong Un. “I’m just gonna chill, play some basketball and maybe go on vacation with Kim and his family,” Rodman said.

  • I love Dennis Rodman but he needs to go and sit down somewhere or start a basketball clinic for some inner city kids. Nobel Peace Prize winners have had a lifestyle of promoting peace not a one time act. I'm just sayin!
  • Dennis the Menace, you are a prize!

Wizards apologize for odd Black History Month tribute

The Washington Wizards finally addressed the team’s weeks-long tribute to Black History Month, which was widely panned as ill-conceived, off-putting or just plain weird. Throughout February, Monumental Sports & Entertainment showcased the faces of players and staff members from the Wizards, Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics paired with the visages prominent African...

Report: McCoy may want more money from Bills

Why was Drew Rosenhaus so adamant on Twitter Tuesday that a trade of his client LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills was not finalized? Perhaps because McCoy is not happy about the deal. CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that “McCoy is not going to be a happy camper about this trade” and that the...Read More

Andre Johnson laughed upon hearing he wouldn't start

Houston Texans’ wide receiver Andre Johnson has apparently had enough after the team told him he would have to take on a smaller role in 2015. He has since asked for a trade or to be released outright. Johnson had this to say when coach Bill O’Brien told him last week he shouldn’t be expecting to catch more than 40 passes for the upcoming season (via the Houston Chronicle...

Brad Stevens: LeBron 'looks like the MVP to me'

This race for this season’s NBA Most Valuable Player Award seems to have narrowed itself down to five players. After Tuesday night’s matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics will have played against two of them in one three-day span. First, it was Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, who dropped 37 points on the Celtics in a come-from-behind win...

Le'Veon Bell tees off on Mel Kiper Jr. over Twitter

As the NFL Draft approaches, expect to see more and more of Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay on ESPN, ranking and breaking down the top prospects. While they are probably the two most recognizable draft experts in the media, they are by no means perfect. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, who has emerged as one of the best rushers in the NFL, did not draw rave reviews...

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso, according to a report. Murray would reportedly give Cowboys hometown discount

As expected, the Dallas Cowboys decided to use their franchise tag on Dez Bryant rather than DeMarco Murray. Keeping both Bryant and Murray — in addition to Tony Romo’s massive salary — is going to be incredibly challenging for Jerry Jones and company. A hometown discount would help. ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Murray is...Read More

Report: Giants ‘considering a run’ at Ndamukong Suh

The New York Giants are considering going after free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. Suh, the best defensive player on the open market this offseason, could become the highest-paid defender in the NFL. That could be an issue for the Giants, who currently have around $10.9 million in cap space—good for just 23rd in...
