Dennis Rodman racked up many awards on the court during his Hall of Fame playing career in the NBA, most notably claiming Defensive Player of the Year twice and being a five-time champion. Off the court, he hasn’t been as successful, but he’s hoping his recent peacemaking efforts won’t go unnoticed by the Nobel Committee. Rodman recently traveled with the Harlem Globetrotters to North Korea and eventually met with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, and the former Pistons and Bulls star thinks he should get some rather lofty recognition for trying to mend the relationship between the United States and North Korea. “My mission is to break the ice between hostile countries,” Rodman told Sports Illustrated. “Why it’s been left to me to smooth things over, I don’t know. Dennis Rodman, of all people. Keeping us safe is really not my job; it’s the black guy’s [President Barack Obama's] job. But I’ll tell you this: If I don’t finish in the top three for the next Nobel Peace Prize, something’s seriously wrong.” Rodman claims that Jong Un, whom he considers his “friend for life,” just wants to talk basketball with Obama, and he doesn’t consider the North Korean leader a threat to the U.S. “People say he’s the worst guy in the world. All I know is Kim told me he doesn’t want to go to war with America,” Rodman said. “His whole deal is to talk basketball with Obama. Unfortunately, Obama doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. I ask, Mr. President, what’s the harm in a simple phone call? This is a new age, man. Come on, Obama, reach out to Kim and be his friend.” Obama reaching out to Jong Un and Rodman winning a Nobel Peace Prize might seem unlikely, but that’s not stopping Rodman from at least trying. The 52-year-old told SI that he plans to visit North Korea again in August to meet with Jong Un. “I’m just gonna chill, play some basketball and maybe go on vacation with Kim and his family,” Rodman said.

  • I love Dennis Rodman but he needs to go and sit down somewhere or start a basketball clinic for some inner city kids. Nobel Peace Prize winners have had a lifestyle of promoting peace not a one time act. I'm just sayin!
  • Dennis the Menace, you are a prize!

Teammate: Johnny Manziel is definitely not a joke

The main goal for Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel heading into the 2015 NFL season will be to make people forget what a disaster his rookie year was. One of the ways Manziel will have to prove that is by convincing at least one teammate that he is not a “joke.” Pro Bowl cornerback Joe...Read More

Knicks reportedly ‘in play’ for Kevin Durant

The New York Knicks will be one of a handful of teams that pursue Kevin Durant if and when Durant becomes a free agent following the 2015-2016 season. Do they actually have a shot? Frank Isola of the NY Daily News reports that the Knicks remain “in play” for Durant. “No question about it,” a...Read More

Former NFL QB Jeff Blake: Everyone deflates footballs

The way Jeff Blake tells it, the New England Patriots wouldn’t be doing anything out of the ordinary if they were intentionally deflating footballs. Blake, who spent 13 seasons in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl once during his six seasons with the Bengals, says every team let air out of the footballs when...Read More

Columnist: Media should boycott Skittles to protest Lynch

Marshawn Lynch hasn’t endeared himself to the media, which is a big no-no — according to the media.   Lynch has done a terrific job of annoying reporters this week at the Super Bowl. The Seattle Seahawks running back mailed in media day and followed that up with another refusal to say anything of substance Wednesday. That led to passionate takes from sportswriters across...

WATCH: Irving scores career-high 55, hits game winner

With Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James currently sidelined due to a sprained wrist, the team needed someone to step up in his absence on Wednesday night. Kyrie Irving did just that—and then some. Irving torched the Blazers and scored a career-high (and NBA season-high) 55 points on a 17-of-36 shooting performance. He was particularly dangerous behind the arc—knocking down...

Gronk on interest in his partying: 'I'm a baller'

It would have been extremely difficult for Rob Gronkowski to top his performance on Tuesday during Super Bowl Media Day, what with his stupefied reading of a passage from the erotic novella, “A Gronking to Remember,” among other entertaining antics. But the New England Patriots tight end at least maintained a level of excellence on...Read More The post Rob Gronkowski on the...

Five-star quarterback Jacob Eason is rated as the class of 2016′s top pro style quarterback, and the college football’s biggest name new coach is going to try and flip him. Colts' suspension of Richardson voids $3.1 million

The tale of Trent Richardson gets stranger by the day. No, I’m not talking about him getting traded or his continual disappointment between the lines on an NFL field. I’m talking about his very standing in the league and with his current team, the Indianapolis Colts. Trent Richardson missed the Colts’ final two playoff games and all indications were that it was for “personal...
