When the controversial Westboro Baptist Church protested outside of Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday during Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinals between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder, it was assumed that an ugly scene was not only possible, but likely.

However, a group of gay rights supporters with some colorful signs stole the show. Check out the photos below:

Oklahoma City’s KFOR-TV also aired the following report on the events of the evening:

The Westboro Baptist Church is notorious for picketing and protesting outside of events to espouse its anti-homosexuality agenda. When NBA center Jason Collins announced his homosexuality earlier this week, the church had a new target: the NBA.

A news release from the church indicated its intentions as follows, as reported by Huffington Post: “Now has-been pervert Jason Collins has ‘come out’ admitting he’s a proud fag,” officials write in the release. “Lift up your voice against this awful sin; use the platform God gave you to warn your fellow man to flee destruction.”

  • If anybody think that she is a reporter and not just a pretty face assigned as fluff then I suggest you need glasses! When all you have to do is look pretty and read the assign question and you still mess it up? Well there is a saying that a pretty face is a dime a dozen so why pay a loser!

Collins bashers spew Gospel of hate

Anybody wondering why there is such antipathy about recently unemployed NFL quarterback Tim Tebow needs only to look at what happened to Jason Collins on Monday. His admission of "I'm a 34-year-old NBA center. I'm black. And I'm gay." unleashed a torrent of Biblically-annotated vile so ugly, so hateful from the good "Christians" of the Internet that...

Former ECW Star New Jack on NBA Player Jason Collins Being Gay: “This F*ggot Picked Booty Over Cootie”

Outspoken former ECW star New Jack is a man who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and not give a single care what anyone thinks about him.  For example, remember the night Jerry “The King” Lawler had his heart attack on RAW & New Jack tweeted that Lawler was a “racist” and that he wanted him to “die slow”?  Well, this one is sure to ruffle quite a few more feather...

COLLINS COMES OUT

In Olmsted Township, Ohio, just about half an hour drive from downtown Cleveland, the brutally murdered body of a 20 year old transgendered woman was found tied to a concrete block and left in a pond to rot.  The body was naked from the waist down, clad only in brassiere, a tank top and a small black jacket, motionless, looking, as one observer explained, more like a mannequin...

Carolyn Moos: Jason Collins’ announcement clears up a lot for me

One of the more stunning aspects of Jason Collins’ announcement that he is gay is that he dated women and was engaged to be married for years. His ex-fiancee, Carolyn Moos, said on Tuesday that she never suspected he was gay. The two were together for eight years before Collins called off their wedding in 2009. Even though the announcement likely stunned Moos, she says it helped...

RuPaul to Collins: I'm gayer than you

Jason Collins is gay. But apparently the question now is, just how gay.

Condom company donates a year supply to Jason Collins

Jason Collins received a gift for making his historic announcement this week: a year’s supply of condoms from NuVo condoms. NuVo Condoms is also offering Jason Collins an all expense paid wedding at the 2013 NYC PrideFest on June 30, 2013, if he is ready to walk down the aisle. I don’t know if Collins is engaged, or even has a boyfriend or whatever, so this second part kind...

On Jason Collins and the unintended consequences from his revelation

On Monday morning, NBA veteran revealed to the word that he was gay. In a well written piece in Sports Illustrated, Collins told his story and announced that “he didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since he is, he’s happy to start the conversation.”Collins, indeed, started the conversation. But he also created a few...

LeBron: Jason Collins Coming Out 'Very Noble On His Part'

LeBron James supported Jason Collins becoming the first openly gay male athlete in a major American professional sport to reveal his sexuality while still an active player. “I think it’s very noble on his part," James said. “I think it’s a strong thing to do, and I think as NBA players, we all offer him our support.” Collins came out in a Sports Illustrated story...

Justin Tuck: It won't be 'okey-dokey' with Jason Collins in the locker room at first

New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck supports Jason Collins’ decision to come out as a gay NBA player, but thinks things may be a little awkward in the player’s locker room for a while. The NFL star sounded like he feels there will be a period of awkwardness at the start. "I think there’ll be an adjustment period," Tuck told The New York Daily News’ Molly...

Jason Collins Is Not Jackie Robinson

The last few days have seen something dramatic in the world of sports: for the first time, an active player on a professional team in either the NBA, MLB, NFL or NHL has announced publicly that he is homosexual.  This ground-breaking event has led many to compare the player, Jason Collins of the Washington Wizards, with baseball’s Jackie Robinson.  That compassion, in my opinion...

A few weeks ago I was told that the Green Bay Packers and wide receiver Jordy Nelson were close to agreeing on a contract extension that would keep him in green and gold for a long time. Since then, Nelson’s contract demands have apparently grown a bit and the two sides aren’t as close as they once were. A report on Thursday claims that Nelson is seeking “at least” $10 million...

Harden praises himself, Howard, calls other Rockets 'role players'

It should come as no surprise that the Houston Rockets struck out big time (so far) in this year’s NBA Free Agency. The Rockets not only failed to land targeted players such as Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony, but also managed to let budding prospect, Chandler Parsons, sign and offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks, without matching the three-year, $46 million offer. Sure, the Rockets...
