Meet Clutch. He’s the beloved mascot of the Houston Rockets. As you can see, Clutch seems like a delightful character, harmless enough, exactly what folks have come to expect out of a mascot. Cute, over-sized and loveable. A mascot children as well as adults can love.
But when it comes to commitment to a bit, Clutch doesn’t take that kind of responsibility lightly. He’s a committed, tenacious performer.
To wit: for a clearly staged scene during Tuesday night’s home court tilt against the Los Angeles Lakers (lots of good stuff from this game: see here and here), cameras captured Clutch coming upon a supposed Lakers fan, fully regaled in a Kobe Bryant jersey and annoyingly chatting away on his cell phone.
That’s when Clutch springs into action. And when Clutch let’s it all hang out for an in-arena routine, he unleashes the beast.
Armed with a cake, Clutch unloads on the poor guy. I mean it’s violent, so much so it’s reasonable to wonder if the actor was in stable condition afterward or required medical attention and/or a trip to the hospital.
Jeez Louise. Shocking brutality. The force in which Clutch drives the cake into the guy’s waiting mug is aggressive to say the least. Hazard pay-worthy, possibly. The guy will be picking pieces of cake and hunks of frosting out of every orifice in his head for weeks.
And here it is in slo-mo:
Oh, the humanity. Poor, poor Lakers Impersonator Guy.
Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, recently finalized the sale of one of her three Southern California mansions, TMZ reports. Kobe signed the couple’s three properties over to her wife when they were beginning divorce proceedings in late 2011. Vanessa listed the 6,000 square foot mansion on sale for $3.75 million in September. TMZ reports and a listing service confirms that the property...
NBA TV had a minor mishap to start off the broadcast of Tuesday night's LA Lakers/Houston Rockets game when they displayed the starting lineups, which featured Kobe Bryant playing all five positions for the Lakers.
If Bryant could clone himself, Lakers fans would probably be pretty excited about that starting lineup.

Just so everyone is aware, the Los Angeles Lakers lost, again. They were beat up by the Rockets and their problem may have been due to the lineup they put out on the court. The team is missing Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol, and we all know that Kobe Bryant can be a ball-hog at times, but this was taking it to another level. For what it is worth, this was Chris Webber’s suggestion H/T Game On!
What chemistry issues?
The comedy that is the Lakers’ 2012-13 season kicked up a notch recently when the New York Daily News reported that Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard were involved in a “heated exchange” following the team’s loss to the Knicks on New Year’s Day. But while the news led to further speculation that the Lakers are a team in disarray, a photo tweeted out by...
Athletes on Twitter – some never update (see: Rodgers, Aaron), others use it to get their name on SportsCenter (see: James, LeBron) and then we have the group that use it for other purposes: trolling, hitting on someone else’s girlfriend, giving the NFL the proverbial middle finger or making fun of ridiculous rumors.
Earlier in the week, there was a rumor flying around the...
First there were rumors that Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard had some sort of altercation on New Year’s day after Kobe allegedly called called Dwight “soft.” To add fuel to that rumor, there were whispers that Dwight’s “praise” of this season’s Clippers great chemistry were related to problems within the Lakers locker room. On [...]
Amid reports that LA’s two superstars (Kobe & Dwight) are feuding, Kobe Bryant used his newly acquired Twitter account to dismiss such rumors by posting a photo of himself and DH12 with their dukes up being separated by Mike D’Antoni. Howard reposted the photo on his Instagram account with the caption “The Re-match.” So the Lakers are a fun buncha guys after all, ay?

Kobe Bryant vs. Dwight Howard
So much for the rumored fight between Los Angeles Lakers stars Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. Bryant posted this photo to his Twitter page today.
"The mamba vs d12 !! It's on lol," Bryant wrote.
How dare they put Mike D'Antoni in the middle. Can we get this signed for WrestleMania, Vince McMahon?
Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard is out indefinitely with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, while forward Pau Gasol is out with a concussion, according to ESPN.
"I would like to play but I just want to make sure that my shoulder is good to go," Howard said after the Lakers' 112-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Click Link Below to Read Story!
The Mike D'Antoni error is in full swing in the Los Angeles. Remember when Steve Nash's return was going to save the Lakers? Ah, seems like only yesterday. Well, it was only about two weeks ago. And now we have reports that Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard almost got into it in the locker room. Welcome to LA, the land of soap operas.Since Steve Nash returned from his leg injury...

Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s recent confession is just another reason why we shouldn’t believe everything we see on TV. Mayweather made an appearance before the Nevada State Athletic Commission today, after being called in to speak about an intense sparring session that was featured on an episode of his Showtime reality series. He defended himself by dropping a bomb, claiming nearly...
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne was torched for five receptions, 108 yards and two scores against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The former first-round pick has been absolutely atrocious when he’s actually seen the football field in his two-plus years with the team. Anyone who has watched the Cowboys play during this span know this full well. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones...
ESPN’s Bill Simmons sometimes goes off the rails in very un-ESPN-like fashion. As a result, he’s part of a small group of key faces at the Worldwide Leader who are sometimes penalized by their employer for going too far. It’s debatable whether Simmons went too far with his latest diatribe against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday, but it does appear as though — in...
Earlier this year I broke the story of Pacers All-Star Paul George offering a former stripper, Daniela Rajic $1 million to have an abortion when she became pregnant following a summer fling with George last year. George is currently attempting to get custody/and or arrange child support for Baby Girl Olivia born on May 1st, 2014. The judge in the case is reportedly tired of George...
Photo Credit: Jets/Facebook After the New York Jets suffered their Monday Night loss to the Chicago Bears (27-19), two main weaknesses remain evident. One, the Jets secondary has underachieved tremendously being one of the worst in the league. Two, Geno Smith continues to battle with inconsistency throwing the football. In just three weeks, out of 35 quarterbacks that have played...
Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett said after Monday night’s 27-19 victory over the New York Jets that he entered the game feeling disrespected by coach Rex Ryan. “Today I felt a little disrespected,” Bennett told reporters in the postgame locker room, via ESPN.com. “We [the Bears] played a highlight video, and in the highlight video, Rex is talking about [how the...
Former USC cornerback Brian Baucham has filed a lawsuit against the university and former head coach Lane Kiffin, alleging that he suffered a brain injury during a game after he was forced to play while ill. According to CBS Los Angeles, Baucham claims he suffered cardiopulmonary damage and brain injury when the Trojans played Cal […]
For the second straight week, Drew Stanton got it done. The Cardinals' backup quarterback, filling in for the injured Carson Palmer, threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers, helping the team improve to 3-0. Along the way, however, Stanton was the victim of a brutal hit by Niners linebacker Dan Skuta -- a hit that Cards coach Bruce Arians deemed dirty. https:...
NEW YORK — NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Monday his league will “take a fresh look” at its domestic violence procedures in the wake of the NFL’s rash of incidents. Silver said during a community service event in Staten Island that the league has been discussing with the NBA Players Association ways to further educate players and provide programs to them and their families...
Former longtime Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas died on Saturday night after flipping his car in a single-car crash in Nashville, and a phone call to 911 indicates the kicker exhibited wild and crazy behavior on the road before the crash. The Tennessean posted audio of a call from a woman reporting the crash. The […]
