Let’s face it, folks. Instagram has become a full-on phenomenon. Although the picture-filter application has received some criticism lately for its privacy agreement that effectively lets it do whatever it wants with its user’s pictures — and its embedding features shut down by Twitter — just the fact that Facebook paid $1 billion in cash and stock for the app should say something. Likewise, because Instagram has become so widely used, we can start to learn about people’s tendencies in a sort of amateur sociology. Call it the science of social media. So, then, what were the top 10 most-Instagrammed locations in 2012? Well, according to Instagram itself, the most common location is Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. However, three sports venues are among the top 10 and, perhaps surprisingly, there seems to be a West Coast bias. Los Angeles’ Staples Center and Dodger Stadium and San Francisco’s AT&T Park were all among the top 10. While we can’t necessarily pose an explanation for the LA buildings, we will point out that San Francisco’s proximity to Silicon Valley and its progressive-minded politics make it a prime location for social media use. For years AT&T Park was even considered the largest wireless hotspot in the country. However, whether or not you’re an Instagram user and wherever you’re from, we will point out that Fenway Park looks mighty fine through the application’s fake nostalgic lens. Photo of the Night Oh, you know, just Justin Bieber playing with Chris Paul, Jr. Just a typical night in Los Angeles. Quote of the Night “Rex [Ryan] has always been a fighter and he taught us how to fight. It hurt him to say stuff like that. He was crying too, he was that mad, that hurt. You hurt a man like that and he cries.” –Joe McKnight probably revealing a little too much about his head coach Tweet of the Night Well done, J.J. Watt. John Farrell: Pitchers need an approved gripping substance

John Farrell thinks Major League Baseball needs to write down one of its unwritten rules.   After Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Will Smith and Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz both were ejected last week and suspended eight games for having a foreign substance on their arms, the great debate about grip-enhancers was brought up once again. And the Boston Red Sox...

Report: Paul Pierce could opt out of contract, join Clippers

While Celtics fans would love to see Paul Pierce finish out his career in Boston, many seem to think that won’t be the case.   There’s reportedly a belief around the NBA that Pierce will opt out of his final season with the Washington Wizards to play for the Los Angeles Clippers, NBA.com’s David Aldridge reported Monday. The move would reunite Pierce with his...

Report: NBA exploring moving start of Finals up

The NBA’s conference finals have been the definition of anti-climax as both series appear headed towards four-game sweeps. But that’s nowhere near as unexciting as the wait until the start of the NBA Finals will be. The starting date of the Finals was set as June 5 before the end the second round. And had either conference final been even remotely interesting, that would not...
