David Stern did not approve of Miami Heat’s wild child Chris Anderson’s actions in Game 5. Anderson gave Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough a chicken wing while running down the court. Hansbrough was not a big fan of that and the two started having words. You can see the altercation that took place afterwards in the video below. Stern announced yesterday that Anderson will be suspended for Game 6 tonight in Indiana. For me this is a little too late. Let us remember what happened between the Bulls and Heat in the previous series when LeBron James and Nazr Mohammed got into a fight and Nazr got ejected after pushing LeBron. The refs took disciplinary actions during the game. They did not have to wait for commissioner to chime in. During an interview with NBC Sports Radio, David Stern condemned Andersen’s actions and said officials should have ejected him. Granted Tyler Hansbrough is NOT LeBron James. Tyler is not the league MVP and he did not fall down after being pushed like James. I get that. Still a push is a push and at that point Game 5 was still up for grabs. Anderson should have been ejected just like Mohammed. The league could then look at the footage from the altercation to determine if he would not play in Game 6. I am not saying allowing Anderson to stay in the game was the turning point, but the Miami Heat fans were going bonkers after the heated exchange between Hansbrough and Anderson. Plus a few plays later the Birdman swatted the ball from Tyler to ignite the Heat fans even more. It was like Anderson saying look what I did and I am still in the game. The Heat are up in the series 3-2 and will likely take Game 6 tonight to move on and face the Spurs in the NBA Finals. I just wish that the officiating in the NBA would not overshadow what has been a great series between the Pacers and the Heat. Hopefully in the future the refs will make the right decision in the heat of the moment and not show any love to one team over the other.
