NBA world reacts to Kyrie Irving's incredible buzzer-beater

When Kyrie Irving drained a 21-foot left-handed floater at the buzzer to seal the Mavericks' 107-105 win over the Nuggets, Luka Doncic was in such disbelief he dropped to his knees holding the back of his head. It took Doncic several seconds to return to his feet and embrace his teammate for his heroics.

Doncic's 'What did I just witness?' reaction was shared by many of his peers entertained by the Sunday matinee affair.

Damian Lillard referred to Irving as "the most skilled mf ever," a sentiment LeBron James seemingly agreed with.

Magic Johnson hailed the miraculous shot as one of the best buzzer-beaters he'd ever witnessed.

"I jumped off my couch screaming after Kyrie's game-winning shot from behind the free throw line for the Mavericks over the reigning champs Nuggets!! It's one of the greatest, if not the greatest, left-hand game-winning shot I've ever seen," the Laker legend wrote on X.

Jalen Brunson, who's made several buzzer-beaters of his own in a Knicks uniform, tipped his hat to Irving.

"Kyrie that is sooooooo tough," Brunson wrote on X.

Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett had a short but sweet reaction.

Irving even received praise from Texas native Patrick Mahomes, who witnessed Irving's clutch shot from the front row. As seen below, Mahomes could be heard saying "Greatness dawg, greatness" while embracing Irving after the game.

Several names in the media chimed in as well. Bill Simmons wrote, "Holy Kyrie!!!! That was incredible!" and Rachel Nichols praised Irving for the distance he made the shot from.

Finally, Doncic was asked if he had ever witnessed a shot as difficult as Irving's.

"No," Doncic told reporters. "And I don't think we'll see it again. That guy is special."

Irving's shot is being hailed by some as "the shot of the year," and for good reason. The difficulty involved in going left and shooting with his off-hand — over Nikola Jokic's outstretched arm — earned just praise on social media. The shot was also a reminder that, in Irving and Doncic, the Mavs have two proven closers who can take over games in the playoffs. The Mavs will be a difficult out for any team.
