Found January 03, 2012 on Project Spurs:

Gary Neal may have just broken the record for shortest run in the D-League. The San Antonio Spurs recalled Neal from the Toros back to San Antonio. Here's the official statement:

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have recalled Gary Neal from the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. Neal was assigned to the Toros on January 2 for a medical rehab assignment after undergoing an appendectomy on December 12, 2011.

That's right at 24 hours for Neal's assignment in Austin. No word on if he was even in Austin for any period of time. This is obviously a reaction to Manu Ginobili's injury. With James Anderson moving in to the starting role you can expect Neal to be the first guard off the bench sooner than later. I can't imagine he's in great shape yet, but every little bit will help in filling the void Manu leaves behind for the next 4-6 weeks.

Rodman starts topless basketball

Let's take a break from all the Manu Ginobili, broken finger talk and enjoy a moment of levity courtesy of former San Antonio Spurs forward Dennis Rodman. For a retired basketball player and new Hall of Famer, Rodman sure is making a lot of headlines. What is Spanish for “ouch I broke my hand”?

Spurs lose, Ginobili breaks hand. Certainly not how San Antonio fans wanted to start 2012. Just before halftime of an eventual loss to the Timberwolves (double ouch), Ginobili slapped down hard with his left hand in an attempt to strip the ball from Anthony Tolliver’s hands. No dice. Just a broken left hand. A serious injury was the last thing on anyone’s mind, but what the...

Warriors-Spurs Preview

If their most recent game was any indication, the San Antonio Spurs could be in for a long road ahead without the services of Manu Ginobili. Hoping to overcome the absence of its leading scorer, San Antonio looks for a 27th consecutive home victory over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. The Spurs (3-2) suffered a huge blow when Ginobili fractured the fifth metacarpal...

Most observers are amazed at the early success of Spanish wunderkind Ricky Rubio in the NBA, but at least a couple San Antonio Spurs are claiming to have known this was destined all along.
