NEW YORK - Joe Johnson scored 10 of his team-high 22 points in the third quarter and Keith Bogans scored 13 in a rare start, as the Brooklyn Nets snapped a three-game losing streak with a 95-92 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers Sunday afternoon at the Barclays Center. The win was just the third in 11 December games for the Nets (14-12), who posted an 11-4 record in November. It was also only the Nets' second win in their last seven home games. It also snapped a six-game home losing streak against the Sixers (13-15). The Nets last defeated the Sixers at home on April 5, 2009. The Nets took the lead for good with an 18-0 run over a three-minute span of the first quarter and held the advantage the rest of the way, although the Sixers sliced the lead to one on several occasions. The Nets had six players reach double figures, led by Deron Williams, who had 16 points and five assists while shooting 5-of-11 from the floor. Brooklyn also received a solid 14 points, nine reboun...

Brooklyn Nets forward Kris Humphries will miss the next two games with an abdominal strain, coach Avery Johnson told reporters Tuesday. Humphries won't face the Boston Celtics on Tuesday afternoon and will skip Wednesday's trip to Milwaukee for a game against the Bucks. Johnson said he will be re-evaluated when the Nets return. The 27-year-old has started 20 of the 25...
NEW YORK -- With the Nets struggling on both ends of the floor for the entire month of December, Brooklyn coach Avery Johnson decided to change things up a little as his team faced the Philadelphia 76ers at home Sunday afternoon. Johnson benched starting power forward Kris Humphries, moved Gerald Wallace from small forward to power forward and inserted little-used reserve Keith...
Kris Humphries was summoned into Avery Johnson’s office prior to the Nets’ 95-92 win over the 76ers Sunday, and the Nets coach delivered some sobering news to his usual starting power forward.
“He just said he was starting Gerald [Wallace] and it was going to be inconsistent for me for a while,” Humphries said. “I really didn’t know it was going to be a DNP, but you’ve...
Kris Humphries was frustrated but understanding about his benching on Sunday.
The Nets may have moved to Brooklyn and added Joe Johnson, but their problems against the Milwaukee Bucks did not end when these teams met earlier this month.
The Bucks proved to be superior in the backcourt in that contest and have now won 12 straight over the Nets heading into Wednesday night's meeting at the Bradley Center.
Milwaukee won 97-88 at Brooklyn on Dec. 9 in the...
For the most part, a player getting no minutes in an NBA game means one of three things. He is either injured, he is getting rested, or he is suspended. None of those three things were the case for Kris Humphries of the Brooklyn Nets. He was simply benched for basketball reasons says coach Avery Johnson. Andy Vasquez of The Record reports that Johnson benched Humphries as...
It's gotten to the point where even I am starting to feel a little sorry for Brooklyn Nets forward Kris Humphries after his 72-day marriage tryst with Kim Kardashian.Back on Wednesday, Humphries was trying to unwind after the Nets/Knicks game at WIP in the South Village but ended having to listen to Kim's current flame. After getting rejected by some beautiful ladies, Kris...
Nothing is ever promised, but for all the Brooklyn Nets’ improvements in the last year and a half, they figured to remain a reliable victim for the Celtics entering this season.
Even after two meetings and two Celtics’ losses, all the ingredients were there to make the Nets a match made in heaven for Boston. They were a slow-paced team that defended poorly and was prone to bad...

The Celtics delivered a great Christmas gift, a win over a half decent team! Nets fans seemed to have an awful christmas. Mostly their coach, Avery Johnson, got a ton of heat with a lot of calls for his job. It does really seem like the Nets have no idea what to do on offense. Still, it was a great defensive game for the Celtics and a nice start to the road trip.
