New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez said he is ready to return to practice next week. Team general manager Billy King is not so sure. Lopez has yet to play this season after suffering a stress fracture in his foot during a preseason game. He underwent surgery two days before Christmas and was expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. Lopez said he hoped to be back at practice Monday, but King said he doesn't expect his center to practice next week even though his recovery is on schedule. The 23-year-old led the team in scoring last season, averaging 20.4 points and 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. The skilled 7-footer had been one of the most durable big men in the league, not missing a game in each of his first three seasons.
