NBA Matchup Insight

Time is running out for the Trailblazers, as yet another loss put them further away from the playoffs.

Portland is now 4 games back of the Rockets for the last playoff spot and they face a Nets team that did lose last night to the Lakers, but mounted a late comeback to almost steal a win.

*NBA ATS Matchup Report*

The Blazers were beat by the Utah Jazz in their last game and they allowed the Jazz to shoot 48.8% from the floor and they were also sloppy with the rock committing 16 turnovers. 6th man Jamal Crawford sat out that game with tendonitis in his right knee and he is questionable for tonight’s game.

Deron Williams scored 20 points and Kris Humphries added 18 points with 15 boards in the loss to the Lakers and New Jersey is also getting good play from ex-Blazer Gerald Wallace, who is averaging 20.3 ppg and 9 rpg in his last 3 games.

The Blazers gave up 56 points in the loss to the Jazz, which was a season high, and LaMarcus Aldridge and J.J. Hickson have to play better D in the paint tonight.

At least tonight the Blazers will be facing a Nets’ team that is only 4-6 in their last 10 games, rank 25th in the league in scoring, and has a defense that ranks 22nd in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

Aldridge and Wesley Matthews combined for 60 points in the loss to Utah, but these guys did not get much help.

Helloooooooooo Gerald. Meet LaMarcus.

Raymond Felton continues to struggle in his first season in Portland and in the Jazz game he was only 2/10 from the field for 4 points. Portland needs his offense and they also need some other guys to step up.

The Blazers have won 3 straight and 7 of their last 8 games against the Nets in Portland.

Nets vs. Blazers Handicapping Preview

This season the Nets are 25-30 ATS with an O/U record of 27-27-1 and the Blazers are 25-28-1 ATS with an O/U record of 29-25.

In some betting trends for this non-conference match up the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, and they have an Under record of 5-1-1 in their last 7 road games.

The Blazers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, and they have an Over record of 5-0 in their last 5 games.

Pick: I think the Blazers will win this game, but the Nets will keep it close and they will, at least, cover the 8-point spread.
