New Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek has hired four assistants, two of them his former teammates.
Jerry Sichting, Mike Longabardi, Kenny Gattison and Mark West were officially named to the staff on Tuesday.
Sichting has 24 years of NBA experience as a player, coach and executive. He was an assistant with the Washington Wizards last season.
Longabardi was an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics the past six seasons.
Gattison, drafted by the Suns in the third round in 1986, played nine seasons in the NBA and has been an assistant coach for 10 years, most recently with Atlanta in 2012.
West, a teammate of Hornacek and Gattison in Phoenix, has been with the Suns for 20 years, eight as a player and 12 in the front office.

The Phoenix Suns on Tuesday confirmed the hirings of Jerry Sichting, Mike Longabardi, Kenny Gattison and Mark West as assistant coaches on Jeff Hornacek's staff.
"I'm very excited to complete my coaching staff with such established, well-rounded basketball people," Hornacek said in a press release. "We were able to add offensive minds, defensive minds, former...
Another day, another rumor. First, it was said the Suns may try to send Marcin Gortat to Portland to get the 10th pick in this week’s NBA Draft, giving them two lottery picks. Now, rumor has it they may just give up that 5th pick altogether.
When I see a “Law and Order: SVU” marathon on television, I get ready to kick back to enjoy some quality television but Phoenix Suns guard Kendall Marshall might have a different reason for watching.
Last Saturday, Marshall sent out a couple of tweets detailing his love for actress Mariska Hargitay and clearly, Kendall’s got a thing for her:
Mariska Hargitay will always have...
The Phoenix Suns won't have any problem drafting to meet a need. They have needs everywhere.
New general manager Ryan McDonough and new coach Jeff Hornacek brought in 74 players in preparation for their first draft.
With the exception of a few who were exempt due to injuries, the players went through strenuous workouts, usually in a 3-on-3 situation. Two of the players, shooting...
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last, like eight months, the Suns were bad in 2012-13. Really bad. Bad enough to net them a fifth overall pick in this year’s draft, something that should make your ears perk up if you’re a Suns fan. That said, here’s a primer as we prepare for the biggest event the Suns have been a part of in a while.
The intentionally methodical rebuilding process currently presided over by general manager Ryan McDonough does not preclude the Phoenix Suns from gathering as many raw materials as possible right now.
If theres a good deal available at Home Court Depot, theyll back up the truck.
Sitting at Nos. 5, 30 and 57 in Thursdays NBA Draft, the Suns seem on the verge -- depending on their...
