New York Knicks Super Fan Stephen A. Smith Gets Ruthless After Team’s Game 4 Loss
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

It’s not wrong to say that Stephen A. Smith is the perfect barometer to assess how the New York Knicks fan base feels toward the team’s performances.

The popular sports broadcaster has been in a generally happy mood throughout the 2023-24 season as his Knicks were playing exciting basketball the entire campaign. He was elated when his Knicks took down the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, though he didn’t shy away from publicly thrashing the team whenever they performed poorly.

It would be fair to assume that Smith was excited when the Knicks won their first two games against the Indiana Pacers. While they are one of the more exciting teams to watch this season, they don’t have a lot of hype surrounding them compared to the Sixers and the Boston Celtics. It was supposed to be an easy series for his Knicks.

However, they now find themselves in dangerous waters as the Pacers suddenly equaled the series with consecutive wins on their home court. Game 4 was particularly embarrassing as the Pacers manhandled their opponents.

Smith was understandably upset with the entire situation, so he decided to go on a tirade that fired shots at every member of the Knicks roster.

Stephen A. Smith goes rabid after the New York Knicks’ brutal Game 4 defeat

The veteran broadcaster didn’t mince words when it came to expressing his disappointment with his team. He shared that he was absolutely disgusted with the quality of play the Knicks showed in Game 4.

Per The Spun’s Daniel Bates:

“Well, the first thing I’d do is I’d get out of the bathroom because I just finished throwing up after watching my team play the way that they played in the first half. It was absolutely, positively awful,” Smith said.

“You have to wonder when that level of attrition is going to kick in and affect their motor to some degree,” the ESPN personality continued. “I thought we saw a little bit of that in the fourth quarter of Game 3. That’s what I’m concerned about now.”

Almost everyone on the Knicks’ roster was neutered in Game 4. Jalen Brunson, who has been red-hot for much of this postseason, only registered 18 points and was the only starter to score in double digits. They had to rely on their bench as Mile McBride and Alec Burks made strides in the scoring department.

The New York Knicks know they cannot drop Game 5 if they want to make it to the next round. Their preparations for this match will be one of the most important they’ll make this season.
