New York Knicks: The Carmelo Anthony Effect
The New York Knicks have won four straight games, mainly because of the return of star forward Carmelo Anthony, three games ago. With Carmelo’s three game averages of 28 points and 7 rebounds on about 47% shooting, it looks like his knee is feeling better, which is an excellent sign. This team cannot afford this injury to effect him going into the playoffs, as he is too important to the team.
The Knicks are 6-6 this season without Anthony and have only gone over 100 points 3 times without him, despite the fact that they average 99 points per game this season. Without Anthony, JR Smith and Raymond Felton become the go-to players for the Knicks, which hurts them, as they are both low efficiency scorers. When they have to carry the offense, the team struggles.
