What Happened: The Knicks returned home from their London trip for an action-packed week that began with a matinee meeting with the rival Brooklyn Nets on Martin Luther King Day. Despite losing to the Nets at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks quickly bounced back to defeat the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Thursday night. Saturday night’s match-up with the Philadelphia 76ers saw the return of Knicks’ point guard Raymond Felton, although his return was an encouraging sign, Felton struggled as the Knicks were blown out by the Sixers. On Sunday night, the Knicks continued the up and down week with a thrilling 106-104 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Carmelo Anthony scored 42 points and hit the game-winning layup to carry New York to a victory. STAT 100%?: It has taken time but Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudemire appears to be closing in on being all the way back. That doesn’t solely refer to his health, as Stoudemire’s integration into the offense has become a very positive one. Amar’e averaged 17 points per game this week, while shooting an impressive 62% from the field. Also worth noting: Stoudemire’s defense has drastically improved, as he totaled four blocks this week, altering shot after shot from New York opponents. Felton’s Back: As previously mentioned, Raymond Felton made his much anticipated return this week against the 76ers. Although he struggled in his first game back, Raymond played exceptionally well in the Knicks’ victory over the Hawks on Sunday night, totaling 12 points and 10 assists in a New York victory. Melo Catching Fire: After experiencing his worst basketball stretch of the season over the past couple of weeks, Carmelo Anthony appeared to get his groove back on Sunday, scoring 42 points on 15 of 28 shooting from the field. Up Next: The Knicks continue their homestand with games against the Magic, Bucks, and Kings this week at Madison Square Garden.   Michael Burke @michaelburke47 – Knickswag Contributor The post New York Knicks Weekly Breakdown: 1/21 – 1/27 appeared first on Knickswag - A New York Knicks Blog - News, Rumors, and more!.
