How much does it cost to whip a premier athlete into cosmetic shape for a major photo shoot?Well, apparently over $800 for Kobe Bryant when it comes to Nike.Seen here is an invoice obtained by TMZ Sports that clearly shows Nike picked up the tab on a rather pricey grooming session for the NBA star.A representative from Nike told TMZ that "Kobe doesn't typically wear makeup during the shoots, so the grooming would be primarily for hair."Ummm, what hair? Seems like Nike got the raw end of this deal.

Nick Young likens Lakers’ woes to girlfriend who can’t cook

Nick Young has been one of the few bright spots during this dark Lakers season, both on and off the basketball court. On the court he’s averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game while shooting 34 percent from three-point range, and when he’s off the floor he’s even more entertaining with his flamboyant clothing and uncensored social media activities. The Lakers are currently...

Mitch Kupchak discusses 2014 NBA Draft; says top 10 prospects are the best he’s seen “in a long time”

In any ordinary season for the Los Angeles Lakers, Mitch Kupchak talking about the top ten NBA Draft prospects in early January would be unheard of. However, this isn’t an ordinary season. The Lakers are currently sat at 14-23 which would likely land them the ninth pick in June’s draft if the lottery was held today, or maybe even a top three selection if the ping pong balls...

“To tank or not to tank?” is the wrong question to ask

10 losses in their last 11 games leaves the Lakers at 14-23 before they face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. The Lakers are 7 games behind 8th seed Dallas and only 2.5 games ahead of last place Utah. Derailed by injuries, this season has been somewhat disappointing. While no one realistically thought this group was going to challenge for a title, the playoffs were still...

Mitch Kupchak hoping Nick Young will “be a Laker for a long time”

Nick Young has been quite a surprise for most Laker fans – myself included. The 28-year-old guard somehow earned a reputation around the league as a poor man’s J.R. Smith. How wrong that assumption was. While Smith is having one of the worst seasons of his career and is constantly in the media for the wrong reasons, Young has emerged as a vital part of Mike D’Antoni’s system...

General Manager Mitch Kupchak Hopes Nick Young Is 'Laker for a Long Time'

Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has been struck by the NBA's version of Cupid's arrow, and it's left him enamored with Nick Young. Swaggy P signed a two-year contract with Los Angeles over the summer—with a player option for 2014-15—worth just over $1.1 million this season. Less than halfway through 2013-14, he's left his mark on the Lakers organization...

Jodie Meeks is more than halfway to $200,000 in salary incentives

Injuries have opened up an opportunity for Lakers guard Jodie Meeks, who has started 30 of 37 games this season. Meeks is now more than halfway to hitting an incentive in his contract that would reward him with an additional $200,000. According to his agreement with the Lakers, Meeks has a base compensation of $1.45 million for the 2013-14 season. If he averages at least 20 minutes...

Mitch Kupchak: Lakers May Wait Until 2015 For Big FA Signing

Does Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak possibly adore Kevin Love more than he Does Carmelo Anthony? In an interview with Lakers.com, Kupchak says that the Lakers are open to the possibility not signing anyone to a huge deal this summer and instead holding that cap space for 2015. Several years ago, we made a conscious decision to line contracts up for this coming year of free agency. If you...

Xavier Henry still feeling soreness in knee, out versus Cleveland

So much for the Lakers getting a healthy body back in the lineup… According to tweets from Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, Xavier Henry (bone bruise) won’t make his return tomorrow versus the Cleveland Cavaliers as his knee is still giving him some problems: Xavier Henry experienced some soreness in his knee today from yesterday's workout. He will not play tomorrow night vs...

Lakers: Week 11

Photo: L.A. Times I’m not going to give the Lakers any grades this week. They got embarrassed twice this week, and I don’t want to sit here and give them an “F” for everything.  That would be too easy. So, I’m going to address a few things that have been discussed by Laker fans over the past few weeks: Pau Gasol, Tanking, and Kevin Love. Pau Gasol Trade rumors have been...

Pau Gasol is a game-time decision Tuesday

Pau Gasol will be a game time decision according to an MRI he had earlier on Monday, what the Lakers said is a “moderate strain of the flexor tendon of the big toe of his left foot.” Gasol didn’t practice on Monday and went to Dr. Phillip Kwong a foot specialist. Pau was injured in a 123-87 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. The Lakers have currently list...

Pau Gasol diagnosed with moderate strain of big left toe, will be game-time decision versus Cleveland

Image: ara.cat It looks like the Lakers could have nine active players in Tuesday’s game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers after all. Pau Gasol injured his left foot during Friday night’s game versus the Los Angeles Clippers and had an MRI examination yesterday. Luckily, the scan showed no more than a moderate strain of the flexor tendon of the big toe of his left foot and Gasol...

Lakers' Pau Gasol is game-time decision with toe strain

A bad season for the Los Angeles Lakers may have hit rock bottom on Friday with a 123-87 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.  The loss was their fourth in a row to drop the Lakers to 14-23, 11 games out in the Pacific Division.  Center Pau Gasol, who had just ten points on 5-of-15 shooting, has a toe injury and is questionable for tonight's game against Cleveland.Dave...

PHOTO: Lakers so banged up Mark Madsen had to suit up for practice on Sunday

The whole “injury bug” thing gets pretty hilarious when your assistant coaches have to suit up in order to have ten healthy players to play a game of five-on-five. Seriously, at this point, all you can do is laugh. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, former Lakers player turned assistant coach Mark Madsen actually had to suit up and take part in Sunday’s practice...

Cavaliers-Lakers Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers suffered two of the most embarrassing losses of the NBA season over the weekend. They'll try shake the memories of those lopsided defeats at each other's expense in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Both teams have struggled in 2013-14, but the Lakers (14-23) have been particularly bad lately. They've dropped 10 of 11 and four...

VIDEO: Manny Harris scores D-Fenders franchise record 49 points versus Idaho

PHOTO: Wikipedia Since the Los Angeles D-Fenders acquired him on December 7, Manny Harris has been filling it up. The ex-Cleveland Cavaliers player is now averaging 29.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game and was named D-League Player of the Week today for the second time running. Harris has to be catching the eye of several NBA teams, especially after the...
