Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard, who has been practicing, said he might not appear in a preseason game as he recovers from offseason back surgery. Howard told reporters last week that would "hopefully" play at least some during the preseason, but backed off that Sunday as he watched his Lakers fall to the Golden State Warriors 110-83 Sunday in the preseason opener. "I'm on track (to return), but my goal wasn't to play (in) a preseason game," Howard told ESPN Los Angeles. "My goal is to win a championship. That's what we're shooting for." Lakers coach Mike Brown said he has not talked with Howard about playing any specific preseason games. The Lakers have seven preseason games left, with the next one on Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers in Ontario, Calif. Brown said it is up to the training staff and doctors to determine when Howard is ready. "He couldn't play here today and so whenever they tell me h...

Dwight Howard has not been given the green light yet from the Lakers.
Word is, he also wants to change his name from “Superman”, to “Iron Man”. Above is Dwight at last night’s preseason game, which the Lakers lost.
I know Shaq is all for it but Iron Man is kinda wack. How bout “Poser Boy”?
I kid, sorta. All I want is for Dwight to play with hunger this season. It’s about damn time already.
Tweet Just as news was released that Los Angeles Lakers reserve forward Jordan Hill would be sidelined with a herniated disc, the team announced Tuesday that All-Star center Dwight Howard has been cleared to play full-court five on five, Mark Medina of the L.A. Kobe Bryant has a complete a-hole persona on the floor. He bosses his teammates around, takes control of games when he feels he needs to, and he calls out teammates on a regular basis. It’s all part of that “killer instinct” so many says he has. Bryant believes Howard has a lot of great tools, but he wants the young center to be more of an a-hole like him. “Shaq was a goofball...
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is day-to-day with discomfort in his right foot. The star missed both practice sessions Friday but is not considered seriously injured. Lakers trainer Gary Vitti advised Bryant and coach Mike Brown to sit Bryant out. "My take on it is this: Gary has a job to do, he's our head trainer and I just follow his lead," Brown said...
