Nocioni sprained his left ankle while playing for Team Argentina.

Of course, just when the Sixers’ roster is beginning to take shape, someone has to go off to practice for the FIBA World Championship and end up injuring themselves. Fortunately, it wasn’t Andre Iguodala who got hurt, it was Argentina’s Andres Nocioni. While practicing for the Argentinian club, Nocioni sprained his left ankle, and is out indefinitely.

The former Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings forward was acquired during the offseason in the Samuel Dalmbert trade. Him and Spencer Hawes arrived in Philadelphia at the same time, and both are expected to play key roles for the Sixers.

However, Nocioni isn’t a starter, and therefore the injury isn’t as threatening to the Sixers. He will be a key member off the bench, though. He is expected to be held out for 20 days, and his status for the FIBA World Championship tournament is up in the air.
