Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat was a hard fought game on all sides…just ask David West and his gonads. With about three minutes left on the clock in game 1, West made the mistake of trying to D-up Norris Cole as he drove along the 3-point arch. What followed is just plain hard to watch. This was no run of the mill low-blow, and it certainly wasn’t accidental. Cole would place a cheap, blatant, digging shot right into West’s family jewels. As Cole tried to drive past West he basically uppercutted him in the junk. His arm nearly disappears at the elbow for a moment as he takes the opportunity to bash David West’s manhood. Thankfully, the offensive foul was called, and the ball would go to the Pacers. To his credit, West showed much more sportsmanship that Cole and did not retaliate. Say what you will about Cole’s tactics, the Heat would win by one point on a buzzer-beating LeBron James layup, during which David West looked surprisingly timid with his backside help. Maybe he was having flashbacks. One thing is for sure, what was already going to be a hard fought series just got that much more heated.
