Welcome back to Denver, Aaron Afflalo.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports first reported Thursday morning that the Denver Nuggets, firing the first salvo of basketball’s silly season, have agreed to trade guard shooting guard Evan Fournier and the 56th overall pick in today’s draft to the Orlando Magic in return for Afflalo.
The 28-year-old Afflalo had the best season of his career with the Magic in 2013-14, averaging 18.2 points in 35 minutes per-game while shooting 43 percent from long-range. Afflalo should make a perfect match for the Nuggets, who came into the offseason looking for additional shooting plus improved perimeter defense.
This would be Afflalo’s second stint in Denver. He was originally traded to Orlando as part of the deal that brought Andre Iguodala to the Mile High City.
The 21-year-old Fournier dazzled at times for Denver, but overall took a step back in his sophomore season with the club. Fournier averaged 8.4 points in just under 20 minutes per-game last season...
