Back by “popular” demand, its Friday NAME DROPPING.  The art of name dropping reminds us of some of the “greats” that have once donned the uniform of your favorite team.  As a feature I plan to pop on here every week (hopefully), I give you today’s obscure Milwaukee Bucks team of the 90s. Enjoy!

G Sherman Douglas, 1995-1997

The “general” had a 2-year stint as the floor general with the Milwaukee Bucks in the great years of the mid-90s.  However, those that know me have heard my favorite Sherman Douglas story. December 26th, 2000 the Milwaukee bucks were playing the New Jersey Nets and had a 26-point lead entering the 4th quarter.  The Bucks sat their starters  entering the final quarter only to see Douglas, Lucious Harris, Stephan Jackson, Vladimir Stepania, and Evan Eschmeyer lead the Nets to a huge comeback where the lead was erased.  Ray Allen eventually hit the game winner but one of those moments I will ever forget.  Douglas average just over 11-points and 5.8-assists per game as a Buck.

G Jeff Nordgaard, 1997-1998

One of the best players to come out of UWGB, Nordgaard was a 2nd round selection of the Bucks in the 1996 NBA Draft making his debut with the team on Halloween 1997.  Nordgaard played in just 13-games in a Bucks uniform scoring 18-points.  He did go on to have a very successful career playing oversees.  In fact, I had a chance to catch up with him (along with my co-host Dave Mader that day) and talk about his days in Green Bay and his pro career.  Jeff Nordgaard Interview from 03/06/2012

F Marty Conlon, 1994-1996

Nobody can forget Marty!  The form that he displayed on his shot with the right-triangle arm and statuesque bottom half bend, just amazing.  Conlon’s best year of his career was the 94-95 campaign when he played in all 82-games and scored 9.9 points and grabbed 5.2 points a game.  Conlon played with 8-differnet teams in his 9 NBA seasons.

F Frank Kornet, 1989-1991

Kornet was a 2nd round pick of the Bucks in the 1989 draft out of Vanderbilt.  The forward saw 89-games in  a Bucks uniform averaging 1.9-points in 5.7 minutes a game.  After his time in Milwaukee, Kornet played a few years in Italy and the CBA.

C Moses Malone, 1991-1993

Yup, for those that did not know, one of the original “straight to the pros” guys donned a Bucks uniform for a couple of seasons.  Malone was second on the 91-92 team in points (15.6) and first in rebounds (9.1) that season.  The next year he saw action in just 11-games as he recovered from back surgery.

G Blue Edwards, 1992-1994

Theodore “Blue” Edwards had a nice 2-year run in Milwaukee in the early 90′s.  He played in all 164-games in his 2-year stint in Milwaukee including a career best 16.9 points per game in the 92-93 season.  You’re my boy Blue!

F Joe Wolf, 1997

The pride of Kohler Wisconsin spent one of his 12 NBA season with is home town Milwaukee Bucks in 1997.  Wolf averaged just 1.7 points a game in limited action in just 56-games.  The best Joe Wolf story comes from the game where it was apparent he had cut the grass in his basketball shoes.  Wolf is now an assistant with the Bucks.

C Frank Brickowski, 1990-1994

How perfect is it for a basketball player to have the work “BRICK” in their last name?  Brickowski spent 4 of his best NBA seasons with the Bucks.  He averaged a career best 16.9 points in the 92-93 season.  He averaged double-figures in each of his seasons with Milwaukee.  Long live the flat top!

And a few honorable mentions…

G Shawn Respert, 1996-1997

C Mike Gminski, 1994

F Brad Lohaus, 1990-1994

G Jerald Honeycutt, 1998-1999

F Alton Lister, 1981-1986, 1994-1995
