Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor's father was a New York City cop for 24 years. His uncle was a fireman and a cousin is one who, on 9/11, lost 25 percent of those in his "rotation" in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. O'Connor also has boyhood friends who are firefighters, including some who died. He says if he hadn't become a basketball coach after a two-year stint in the Army and graduation from college, he "probably would have become a cop of a fireman, too." That's why O'Connor remembers every moment of the tragic time when so many innocent people -- including so many cops and firefighters -- died. "It still affects me," he said.
