So it looks like we will likely need about two wins to secure a playoff birth and tonight is as good a night as any to get one of those wins.
We are playing against the wizards who are on a 2 game winning streak after having lost 5 straight. The Wiz are a dangerous team mostly because of their style of play (perimeter shooting) and because they have nothing to lose.
We are 8-0 at home under Woodson (12-4 overall) and this is a game we really shouldn't lose.
KEYS TO THE WIN:
* Put Iman on Wall and sprinkle in a little of Jeffries coverage for good measure.
* Don't let Seraphin get on the offensive boards
* Lets not make Mason an allstar tonight
* Get everyone involved on the offensive end and let Melo close the 4th.
* Make good substitutions by giving our stars needed rest and making sure they are surrounded by shooters (Novak, Smith)
* Give Novak 4-7 shots.
* Make sure Chandler doesn't get any techs
* Keep Wall from penetrating (if possible just limit him and put a body on him when he does)
We should win this - blowout style. BUT>...........this is a classic "trap" type game going up against a team with nothing to lose, who shoots very well. We're also coming off of an emotional win so lets hope we don't get complacent.

Without Amar'e Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin, the Knicks have had to make adjustments to the lineup. In doing so, there's been hope that other key players step up in the clutch as the team steadies itself towards the playoffs. In search of some extra offensive firepower, the Knicks have been refreshed by the recent contributions of J.R. Smith, who has been excelling off the bench...
The Knicks have had to overcome various bumps along the road this season, including the resignation of Mike D'Antoni, as well as injuries to Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Jeremy Lin.Despite missing key contributors, the team has been playing consistently well, and chemistry appears to be a big factor. The Knicks have come together through trying times, pulling behind...
Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks met with the family of Florida shooting victim Trayvon Martin prior to Friday night's game against the Wizards.
Iman Shumpert is almost falling into the clichéd story of guys who were told they wouldn’t succeed and then showed up the world by proving them all wrong. I’m not going to say the New York Knicks rookie guard is a raving success, but he has done better than most people thought, and he’s definitely on his way.
When he decided to forego his senior season at Georgia Tech and...
The New York Knicks can be infuriating to watch at times. This season has been a bizarre roller coaster of about five different teams, all of which are deeply flawed but unquestionably talented. The current version is entirely too reliant on Carmelo Anthony on the offensive end and is still prone to mind numbing lapses on defense despite having two candidates for first team All...
It's tough to say whether it was the Wizards' comically futile offense or the Knicks' vigorous defense that contributed more Friday night to New York's 103-65 romp.
But both teams probably would prefer to think it was the Knicks who were primarily responsible for Washington's 27.8 percent shooting in its most lopsided defeat since March 2008.
Whatever was key...
As the Knicks continue to surge under interim coach Mike Woodson, all the team has on their mind is making advancements and climbing up the playoff ladder in the Eastern Conference.By downing the Wizards in what was a scrimmage-like victory by a score of 103-65 Friday night, the Knicks simply continued onward in their quest. Getting a bit of help in the form of 76ers and Celtics...
Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is coming to Showtime this weekend. The All-Star will be featured on ’Nurse Jackie’. The show stars Edie Falco as an emergency room nurse in a New York hospital who has a petulance for prescription drugs. Melo is playing a fallen pro hoops player whose a member of an eclectic group of [...]

Wall with spectacular highlight in an otherwise dismal season.
Baron Davis scored a season-high 18 points on his 33rd birthday, JR Smith had 23, and the New York Knicks surged into a tie for seventh place in the Eastern Conference by routing the Washington Wizards 103-65 on Friday night.
Carmelo Anthony and Steve Novak also had 18 for the Knicks, who could now be looking at a playoff preview when they host second-place Miami on Sunday. The...
I'm home sick tonight, so I plan to watch the game - I might be doing so alone, as its the Wiz.
So many of NBA critics, fans, media are fast to point out the selfish, goonish nature of New York Knicks superstar, Carmelo Anthony, that his good deeds can be overlooked at times. Yes, this could have been a PR stunt…….. It’s still a good deed, nonetheless: Anthony invited Sybrina Fulton and Tayvon’s older brother, Jahvaris Fulton, 21, to the locker [...]
Line of the Night/ Waiver Wire Line of the Night: There was an insane triple-double last night and some dude grabbed 30 boards, but neither of those games was the best fantasy line of the night. Instead, waiver wire champion Danny Green (2.61 WARP) finished with 22 points, hitting 5-6 from three and 7-11 from the field, with 2 steals, 2 blocks and 0 turnovers. If that sounds like...
The New York Knicks are coming off a critical victory over their chief pursuer in their battle to make the playoffs. A matchup with the woeful Washington Wizards, however, also could turn out to be a crucial contest.
The Knicks seek their fourth win in five games when they host the Wizards on Friday night, just before a pair of first-place teams visit Madison Square Garden.
Unless you’re a Washington Wizards or New York Knicks fan you probably weren’t watching the matchup between the two that took place at Madison Square Garden last night. Even if you are a fan of either team you probably didn’t stick around for the entire game as the Knicks were up 79-47 at [...]
