Now that we’ve finally gotten past the ridiculousness of Shaquille O’Neal actually being a serious candidate for the Orlando Magic GM job, we can finally focus on candidates that have a real chance of taking over in Orlando. According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the Magic are planning to begin scheduling interviews today for the job. And one of the first candidates they would like to speak with is current Los Angeles Lakers GM, Mitch Kupchak. Among the characteristics said to be most prized by Magic CEO Alex Martins is championship experience. So while there have been no public indications that Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak will be available or wants to leave Los Angeles, Kupchak is expected to be among the first wave of candidates the Magic pursue, one of the sources said. In addition to reaching out to free-agent candidates, the team’s list also will include executives who are under contract with other teams. Martins also is expected to begin contacting teams Friday to ask perm...

Chris Sheridan says Magic owner Rich DeVos decided it was time for the franchise to start fresh...

Wait-and-see mentality in effect for Lakers

EL SEGUNDO, CA -- Los Angeles Lakers' General Manager Mitch Kupchak met with the media following two days of exit interviews and provided answers to a couple of pertinent questions about the Purple and Gold. One, Kobe Bryant asking to do his exit interview away from the team's offices didn't mean the superstar was in showdown mode, ready to make demands of management...

Jeff Van Gundy says it’s ‘absurd’ that the Magic pretend Dwight Howard wasn’t the reason Stan Van Gundy was fired

There are two theories regarding the firing of Stan Van Gundy: the Magic are looking to start fresh, or they know their only chance of keeping Dwight Howard was to fire their head coach. With rumors floating around that the Magic are looking to deal Howard around draft time, the former is a definite possibility. However, Jeff Van Gundy fully believes Howard drove his brother out...

The club that represented the Eastern Conference in the big dance that season is now a team in transition; looking to fill the voids at the General Manager and head coach slots. Former G.M.Otis...

Magic deny report that they're ready to trade Dwight

Probably not the worst idea ever assuming Sheridan's report is the one you choose to believe. With this past season feeling like a uber-slow removal of a band-aid that tears out as many arm hairs as possible on its way to exposing the ugly wounds that the Dwight Howard trade saga has inflicted on the Orlando Magic franchise, it just might be time to turn the page completely....

Report: Shaquille O'Neal...the Big GM (of the Magic)

The Big G.M himself ((ht: espn.com/broussard)) Huh? The master of the mono-syllabic pun running an NBA franchise? Really?
