Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Last season, with 3 new rookies, a couple of second year players, and several spots to fill cheaply with free agents, the Celtics participated in both the Vegas and Orlando Summer Leagues.
This season, with just one second year player and one draft pick, along with the trio from China to evaluate, the Celtics have announced that they will participate in only the Orlando Summer League. It's cheaper than Vegas and also in Doc's home town, which makes it the logical choice.
Orlando Pinstriped Post has announced some details for this year's Summer League. The dates for the 2013 Orlando Summer League will be Sunday, July 7 through Friday July 12. The 10 teams participating this year will be: Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers, and Utah Jazz, and Orlando Magic.
The event will run from July 7th through the 12th. The games will be played on the Magic's practice court at Amway Center. As in years past, the games will be closed to the public due to space concerns. Following the Vegas Summer League's lead, there will be a new format for Orlando's Summer League. From Pinstriped Post:
Each of the 10 teams will play four games over the first five days of the event. July 12th, designated Championship Day, will crown a winner of the 2013 Orlando Pro Summer League. Championship Day is a new addition to the event.
To determine seeding for Championship Day, points will be awarded based on results from the first five days of Summer League play. Three points will be awarded for a win, with one point being awarded for each quarter won. In the event that teams tie in a quarter, then each team will receive 0.5 points.
The tiebreakers, for seeding purposes, are, in order: total point differential and total points allowed. A coin flip will serve as the third tiebreaker.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Al Harrington was the youngest player in the NBA when he broke in with the Indiana Pacers on a team that included Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson, Jalen Rose and Chris Mullin.
Fifteen years later, he's not only the oldest player on the Orlando Magic but older than their general manager.
And after a season in which he spent more time in street clothes than in uniform...
One question has been answered now that the NBA Draft Lottery has passed. The Magic will have the second selection in the NBA Draft. That means one player is off the board. It does not change much of Orlando's preparations. Just about every player on their Draft board is still going to be around. Unless the Magic plan on honing in on one player and hope that the Cavaliers do...
Trey Burke is scheduled to work out for the Orlando Magic before the June 27 draft.
Burke has scheduled just one workout thus far.
"I may do three or four (workouts with teams), two or three, I don't know (yet),” Burke said. "Everything's not (totally) scheduled yet still."
Burke doesn’t have a preference for where he could end up.
"Wherever I go,...
With a little more than a month to go before the NBA Draft, the Magic have almost certainly gotten a good feel for who they want to draft and what their goals are going to be. The only reason we can address these goals now is that until the draft order was set it was difficult to get a sense of what scenarios might play out.
One thing should hold true even dating back to the...
The new hot thing for NBA players to do in the realm of social networking is producing “Vine” videos which for the non-social media maven are short-looping clips that are usually hilarious in nature.
Orlando Magic forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis recently produced an epic video for Vine and that can be seen below:
