If you’re like me, seeing Eddy Curry on the Spurs’ preseason roster was a bit of a surprise. We all know how much help the Spurs need in the post, but Curry has been considered a disappointment since he was drafted fourth overall in the 2001 Draft.
Curry has a documented history of being overweight and out of shape, and he’s had some heart problems that have kept him out of action in the past. He made a few appearances with the NBA champion Miami Heat last year, showing off a slimmer frame, but still not enough talent to make a long-term contribution.
Now he’s with the Spurs.
In his first preseason game, Curry played nine minutes, scoring seven points on 3-5 shooting and adding two rebounds. He’s not blowing anyone away, so the odds that he’ll make the final cut for the Spurs are pretty slim, but it looks like he may have other options.
