ESPN first reported Indiana’s interest Friday night with the Pacers confirming the move early Saturday morning: Larry Bird on Bynum: “We are obviously happy to have him join our team… With the minutes he gets, he should be a valuable addition.” — Indiana Pacers (@Pacers) February 1, 2014 Bynum averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in 24 games with the Cavaliers before being traded to and released in a salary cap dump by the Bulls for Luol Deng. Bynum will primarily back up All-Star center Roy Hibbert, giving the Pacers a couple of capable big men to aid their chances of dethroning the Heat after falling to Miami is last year’s Eastern Conference Finals.
