Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton sets record straight on Game 4 blowout of Knicks

The Indiana Pacers had a massive Game 4 performance tying up the series 2-2 with the New York Knicks. Indiana was on fire early and stayed hot throughout the contest. However, it sounds like Tyrese Haliburton isn’t quite ready to celebrate yet considering his team is still two wins away from advancing in the NBA playoffs.

During the postgame press conference, Haliburton made it clear he and his teammates are now shifting their attention towards Game 5, according to Clark Wade and Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star. The Pacers aren’t letting this Game 4 performance get to their heads.

Indiana has looked great so far in the postseason. After taking down the Milwaukee Bucks they now aim to upset the Knicks. New York has played well up until Sunday’s contest. So, the Pacers can’t take them lightly at all in the next game.

Furthermore, Tyrese Haliburton couldn’t help but praise teammate TJ McConnell, who has been balling out in the Pacers-Knicks series. Haliburton gave McConnell his flowers during the same post-game presser.

“There’s not many people in the NBA better at doing what [TJ McConnell] does, and that’s bringing energy off the bench.”

Game 5 tips off on Tuesday, May 15 as both the Pacers and Knicks aim to take a 3-2 lead. It’s an ultra-important game as taking that one-game lead could be the difference-maker in Game 6.

Is 2024 the Pacers year?

The Pacers made a big move at the trade deadline to acquire Pascal Siakam. Since then, he’s proven to be a reliable option alongside Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner. Overall, Indiana has a well-rounded roster supported by solid depth. So, they’re a legitimate threat as long as they’re in the playoff race.

However, New York is a great team in their own right despite suffering multiple injuries right now. The Knicks aren’t going down without a fight and will lean on Jalen Brunson often. If the Pacers can slow him down like they did in Game 4 then they’ll have a great opportunity to pull off the upset.

We’re still a ways away from the NBA Finals. But it’s starting to come down to the wire. With that said, look for the Pacers to keep the foot on the pedal as they hope to take a 3-2 lead over the Knicks. If Indiana can eliminate New York, then they’ll be taking on either the Boston Celtics or Cleveland Cavaliers.
