The Detroit Pistons are still searching for a head coach after firing John Kuester on June 5. Several candidates have emerged over the past month, but the Pistons are still yet to hitch their wagon to a new head guy. Now reports have come that a Hall of Famer might be in the mix.
Patrick Ewing will reportedly get an interview with the Pistons. Ewing, who is currently an assistant with the Orlando Magic, has previously expressed a desire to become a head coach in the NBA. From what we can tell, he has as good a chance as anyone, since the Pistons have obviously not been blown away by the current list of candidates.
As we’ve mentioned before, Kelvin Sampson is in the mix and has interviewed.
Boston Celtics assistant Lawrence Frank has interviewed and apparently he has come on strong late in the process. Frank was the early favorite for the Toronto Raptors job – Dwane Casey eventually got the job – and reportedly “blew the Pistons away” in his interview.
