Lakers’ Pau Gasol shaved his beard for the first time in nine years on Thursday after losing a bet to his brother Mark in support of Gasol Foundation. The bet was over which brother could initiate better ‘healthy living’ for several middle schoolers in the Memphis and Los Angeles area middle schoolers.
BEST OF MAXIM
Pau Gasol has been bearded for quite a while now. Sure, when he arrived in Los Angeles he tamed it a little, but we haven’t seen a clean shaven Pau for quite some time. Until today, that is.
Pau lost a bet with his brother Marc, and he paid it off by shaving off his beard. This wasn’t just some silly wager between two brothers, though: it was all in aid of the Gasol Foundation...
A post about a Lakers player flirting with singer via Twitter? Yep, it’s most definitely still the off-season.
Earlier today, Nick Young took part “Woman Crush Wednesday” – otherwise known as WCW – when he tweeted about his “interest” in Australian-born singer Iggy Azalea:
#WCW would have to be iggy azalea— Nick Young (@NickSwagyPYoung) September 11, 2013

Despite Jim Buss being involved in the decision making process for the Los Angeles Lakers for over a decade now, many fans are still uneasy about Dr. Jerry Buss‘ son running their beloved franchise.
However, Jim isn’t the only one in charge; all of Dr. Buss’ children own a stake of the team, and Jim himself said yesterday that Jeanie Buss has the “ultimate say” when it...
Dr. Jerry Buss will be honored at halftime of USC’s football game versus Boston College on Saturday, according to Kevin Ding and Janis Carr of the O.C. Register.
Buss, a USC graduate, will be remembered as the marching band performs some of his favorite songs; the Laker Girls will also be present, according to Carr:

Pau Gasol is a man of his word. The Lakers forward shaved his beard for the first time in nine years Thursday after losing a bet, regarding The Gasol Foundation, to brother, Marc Gasol.
The Dallas Mavericks have signed Devin Ebanks, according to the team’s official website:
The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have signed forward Devin Ebanks. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ebanks worked out for the Orlando Magic yesterday and headed to Dallas straight after; it seems the Mavs liked him enough to sign him up there and then. It is unclear...
ESPN.com is reporting that the Mavs have signed former Lakers forward Devin Ebanks to a non guaranteed contract.
The 6-foot-9 Ebanks played three seasons for the Los Angeles Lakers after being selected with the 43rd overall pick in the 2010 draft.
He has career averages of 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 63 games.
It’s not hard to get a mental image of someone in the Lakers’ marketing department, mallet in hand, relentlessly trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.
That’s essentially what the Lakers did Wednesday when they tweeted a photo of Kobe Bryant, circa 2001, along with the words “#NEVERFORGET” in a ham-handed attempt at a 9/11 remembrance. The reaction from fans and...
Last Thursday, two wives of the biggest names in the NBA game got dinner together in West LA as Vanessa Bryant (Kobe Bryant’s wife) and La La Anthony (Carmelo Anthony’s wife) grabbed some grub at trendy Madeo restaurant.
Below is an Instagram image of the two smiling together that Kobe’s wife posted to her account:

Apparently this "former NBA player/coach/whatever turned executive producer for whatever reason thing" is becoming a trend. First, LeBron James decided to help develop a pseudo-reality show with Starz, and now we have Phil Jackson teaming up with Showtime.
Showtime is developing a one-hour scripted drama set behind the scenes of a pro basketball...
The Dallas Mavericks have signed Devin Ebanks.
Ebanks was a second round pick in 2010 out of West Virginia by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Beards are the new black.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brian Wilson‘s and Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden‘s beards are so popular that each has it’s own respective fan-run Twitter account, collectively totaling 32,137 followers. Heck, even the Red Sox are offering promotions for showing off your beard. Given the current state of beard-sanity, it only made sense,...
