Last week, Lakers forward Pau Gasol was at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles to witness a spinal cord surgery done on 15-year old Joshua Sandoval.

If you remember a previous post we did, we noted that Gasol had already been to one of these surgeries back in 2010 and that he was an medical student at the University of Barcelona before turning to a life of basketball:

Report: Lakers all-in on Gasol trade

The Lakers organization is reportedly committed to moving Pau Gasol, even if they have to take less-than-equitable excchange of talent in order to complete the deal.

Lakers reportedly ‘committed’ to trading Pau Gasol

Possibly more bad news for Pau Gasol‘s future with the Lakers. With the incessant trade chatter surrounding L.A.’s favorite scapegoat far from relenting, Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News drops this interesting little tidbit about Gasol’s potentially impending departure: The Lakers are committed to moving Pau Gasol — the fall guy for their second-round ouster against...

Pau Gasol Not Root of Lakers' Problems, But That Hardly Matters Amid Trade Rumors

A very good player could be available at a very bad price. Pau Gasol is back on the market, according to reports, not that he ever left. The Los Angeles Lakers apparently are willing to take back less talent in the quest to move the 31-year-old forward and his $19 million salary. If they succeed, it is difficult to see any such deal improving the Lakers' title hopes. Gasol is...

Lakers are reportedly committed to trading Pau Gasol

This shouldn’t surprise you seeing as though the Lakers have already traded Pau Gasol once on to have the trade rescinded by David Stern. But now it seems that the Lakers are getting desperate to trade Gasol. So desperate that they are reportedly very open about their willingness to take back less talent in return if someone would just take him off their hands. The Lakers are...

Kobe, Gasol's horse to run at Hollywood

A horse co-owned by Los Angeles Lakers stars Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol is set to run in Sunday's first race at Betfair Hollywood Park. Siempre Mo is trained by Doug O'Neill, who guided I'll Have Another to recent victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Siempre Mo will take on five other older horses at six furlongs in the $12,500 claiming race. He will be ridden...

Gasol definitely out in L.A.?

The Los Angeles Lakers were pointing fingers at just about everyone to take the blame for missing a chance at another championship after the Thunder knocked the Lakers out of the postseason. Los Angeles is not a patient city, so you can bet all the guys taking flack for not stepping up during the playoffs will most likely be headed elsewhere. Guys like Andrew Bynum are probably...

The gelding part-owned by the Los Angeles Lakers stars was beaten by that margin in the first race Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park. Siempre Mio took the lead under Joy Scott and maintained it into the stretch, then fought back when challenged by Valkyrie Missile only to lose a photo finish to the...

Kobe, Gasol lose horse to QB Brees

A horse named Siempre Mio has gone from one MVP owner to another. The 4-year-old gelding raced Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park with 2008 NBA MVP Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles Lakers teammate Pau Gasol among his owners. Upon crossing the finish line in second place, he belonged to 2009 NFL MVP Drew Brees and his partners. Yes, Brees claimed a racehorse away from Bryant and Gasol...
