Once again, it was the offensive prowess and rebounding skill of second-year Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis that kept the Pelicans in the game. Davis scored 13 points in a 30-point third quarter as the Pelicans climbed out of a hole and had an opportunity to win the game. Davis recorded another double-double, with 32 points (tying a career high) and 17 rebounds. He also blocked six shots. But to fully appreciate Davis' skill set, consider that his 25th point came on a jump shot with 1:31 to go in the third quarter. Five seconds later, at the 1:26 mark, he was drawing a charge from Denver's Kenneth Faried, Faried's fourth foul. Davis also won a jump ball with 17.5 seconds to go in the game against Denver's Aaron Brooks which gave the Pelicans an opportunity to tie the game in regulation on Anthony Morrow's jumper with 0.9 on the clock. In overtime, Davis' sixth block of the night on a Ty Lawson layup attempt and subsequent rebound, led to a Tyreke Evans lsup on the other end and a 108-104 lead with 55.7 to go.
