Former Louisville point guard Peyton Siva made his NBA preseason debut with the Detroit Pistons on Saturday evening.
Siva had been held out of the first ten days of the Pistons training camp and missed their first two preseason games, due to a nagging calf injury.
In 15-minutes of action, Siva scored eight points and dished out two assists as the Pistons defeated the Brooklyn Nets 99-88. Unfortunately, Siva committed five turnovers in just 15-minutes, but Detroit head coach Mo Cheeks seemed impressed with the former Louisville floor general.
“I like Siva,” Cheeks told the media following the game. “I like the way he plays. He’s got to get used to the pro game, but I like the way he runs his team. I like the way he controls the game.”
“I haven’t played five-on-five basketball since Summer League,” Siva said. “Just getting out there and getting used to the pace again is a great learning experience. Now that I got out there, it’ll slow down for me a little bit.”
