Sometimes, simply winning isn’t good enough. That was the case for Paul Pierce Monday night after the Nets managed to snap their three-game losing streak with a 108-102 victory over the 76ers at Barclays Center. But a much-needed triumph wasn’t enough to satisfy Pierce, who wasn’t happy with the way the Nets played — and particularly with the way the team’s short-handed bench did — and wasn’t shy about saying so. “You know, a win is a win, but you can’t be happy with the way we closed the game,” Pierce said. “We gave up lay-ups, 3’s … we were up 19, and let them back in the game a couple times in this game. “If we play like that come Thursday [against the Spurs at home], then we can’t expect to walk away with a win. There’s a lot you can learn from a win, and today we learned something. When you have a team on its back, put them away when you can.” Pierce has a point. Both at the start of the game and the start of the second half, the Nets (21-25) went on big runs — 16-

Exploring Paul Pierce as a trade piece

Paul Pierce has been less than satisfied this season with the Brooklyn Nets.To be fair, it's hard to blame him. He's been a starter, then a bench player, then a starter again. Jason Kidd Growing Comfortable as Nets' Head Coach

The start of Jason Kidd’s coaching career was rocky to say the least. He had his fair share of embarrassing moments (“CupGate”, the demotion of top assistant Lawrence Frank, players leaving the court early on New Years’ Eve) while getting acclimated to the head coaching position. The Nets were 10-21 going into 2014, and there were points where Kidd looked completely lost...

Billy King: We've Found Our Personality With Smaller Lineups

The Brooklyn Nets have an 11-4 record since New Year's, finding success around smaller lineups. "We’ve found our personality,” said Billy King. “You have to have a sense of structure and an identity,” said Jason Kidd. “You have to know who you are, and how you’re going to play both ends. And now we do.” The Nets are playing in a style that would have been difficult...

Deron Williams Admits Confidence Is Low Right Now

After going 3-12 for 13 points and six assists in his return to the starting lineup, Williams told the New York Post that he’s struggling with his confidence right now. “It’s not my highest,” he said with a sheepish smile. “It’s been tough … just being in...

76ers-Nets Preview

After spending much of January as one of the NBA's hottest teams, the Brooklyn Nets have dropped three straight games. But while two of those defeats came to the league's top teams, a home tilt with the struggling Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night should give them a good chance to bounce back. Brooklyn (20-25) won 10 of its first 11 games last month, including victories...
