via AP The Detroit Pistons took nearly three months to find their next coach after firing Lawrence Frank, but they have finally found their guy.  That guy is Maurice “Mo” Cheeks.  Cheeks, who has previously been the head man in Philadelphia and Portland, has worked out a multi-year agreement with the team, but details have not been disclosed.  Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars released the following statement Monday night: “We’re pleased to welcome Maurice Cheeks to the Pistons organization.  The leadership and player development qualities he brings as a former player and coach blends nicely with the roster we are building for the future. He’s won an NBA championship, coached in two NBA Finals as an assistant coach and mentored some of the top young players in the NBA.” The Pistons’ job was not exactly the most attractive position out there as fans have suffered through five straight losing seasons and four consecutive playoff misses. Cheeks reached the playoffs twice in Portland (’02 and ‘03) and once in Philadelphia (’08). His career record is 284-286. Reaching the playoffs will definitely be a goal of the new regime.  However the first goal for MO CHEEKS should be putting MO’ CHEEKS in The Palace seats. [Free Press]
